Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone knows if Alienware have released the upgrade option for existing M17X owners to upgrade to 64-Bit Windows Vista from the pre-installed 32-Bit OS?

Had I been given the choice I would have chosen 64-0Bit as it's a more stable system and also can use all available RAM.

    Cheers

    OB

Well I just installed Vista 64 today (a few hours ago) using the 32bit key. Activated without any issues.

well when you do that do you need to do something with your drivers to make them 64 bit or does the OS update do that itself?

Alienware offers 64 bit for m17x so drivers should be on thier site under the M17x

Well, I rang Alienware Uk and spoke to a very helpful guy in the Tech Support Dept.
It seems that although you can buy and install the 64-bit version of Vista, Alienware will only support your original OS via the waranty, and the machine itself of course but, they won't support any problems with the 64-bit OS.
I asked if they would be offering an upgrade and he said that yes but, not yet as they do not have any OEM copies of Vista 64-bit yet.

    So there is hope!!!

He also told me that if I go to the .Com site I can find the 64-bit drivers available there, which was nice of him.
