Hi,
probably there are n threads about this, but so hard to find it when there are so many people posting![]()
Currently waiting for a black ripley and this question came to me:
ofcourse i'll upgrade to 64 vista for 4GB ram, but what can I do with the Alienware command centre? I read somewhere that they don't a a CD of it, so what, only one color? Any ideas?
-
-
Wouldnt alienware have to make a patch to get it to work with th 64bit version too eventually?
-
Well logically they should make one in future. But also logically why do they offer 4gb notebooks with only 32bit and no software if you want to format it????
-
Currently there is no patch. Wait until they release a patch, as I think you can download it for free at microsoft's website
windows vista -- the wow starts now -
EDIT: I found this in other thread "I've emailed Alienware about the command center app and they said it should be released soon and they are aware of the issue...but that might as well be all bs. We'll see soon enough. They did promise to send me an email when it becomes available and I'll update this thread when that happens. Aside from this, the m15x is a sexy beast."
so it seems they are going to release it, but now another problem, this guy said that in 64 GPX card only works underlocked... any solution to that? So many problems with this laptop -
hmm right i am assuming that they will put 64 bit into the m17x, or a later version of the m15x, because why would they not? Eventually they will sell 64 bit vista with their laptops, its the new stuff. This is when they have to make a suitable command center to work for them.
but your right, I dont know why they dont offer the 64bit already -
Even though besides the graphic driver everything is available? You're right...they should make it x64 friendly
.
-
hm is dual boot for vista 32 and 64 available? maybe i'll just stick with 32 till gpx drivers are released and then just format then 32 windows.
-
microsoft wouldnt create a patch. I meant you can download 64 bit os for free from microsoft I think
-
Microsoft has nothing to do with Alienware's lack of x64 support.
-
NOOOO OMG
since you can download a 64 bit os for free, there is no rush to get one. That is what i'm saying. You don't need to save up for one, but you should still wait as the patch is not out yet
omg -
Where can you download it from (Vista that is)?
What patch are you talking about? -
I think he's saying that if you have a legal 32bit version, you can download 64bit from Microsoft for free. That is true.
-
How can you download it?
-
Not sure, just a couple of my friends said i could. I'll search the microsoft website a bit later
-
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/1033/ordermedia/default.mspx
There you go Fade, think its only for retail versions (which should come with 32bit and 64bit disks anyway, my Ultimate did) -
What does that have to do with downloading Vista from Microsoft's site?
-
Sorry, lol - I got mixed up.
This I meant. > http://www.windowsmarketplace.com/content.aspx?ctId=396&tabid=1
The only thing I can find with regards to download 64 Bit of Vista from Microsoft, nothing is free - I cannot find any news or people talking about the ability for customers to upgrade their 32 Bit versions to 64 Bit for free (download wise). You either buy 32 Bit or 64 Bit OEM, or the retail version which has both included.
Some more info on the upgrade possibilities here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932795 -
Damn... the lesson is - don't expect anything from microsoft for free
-
lol...
anyways, ye imma keep updated on this, as i really hope that AW makes the option for x64 vista in the future, especially for the m17x... -
Hurrayyy.... finally today I got success in running my m15x with its full power.
I am running Windows Vista Ultimate x64 with all the drivers except Alienware Command Centre
Windows rating is 5.1 and my system can utilize full 4GB RAM....
I am building a package for all the softwares and drivers you need to run m15x in 64Bit and soon will upload them to Rapidshare
Also I am working a windows driver+service for x64 which can simulate the same operations that AlienFX can. I don't see it coming from Alienware. Will post it here once I have a working one.
Here is the HOWTO guide... hope you find it useful
