as the title states. you think i should wait to see what AW tells joker, or just go for the 720QM with everything else maxed out minus warranty??

You should add what your usage will be unless you normally just buy all high-end regardless.

As of right now 920xm (if ordered with RGB LED) simply doesn't work with the R2 so there's no point in getting it.

do you think that its just a matter of time before 720's start having problems like the 920 and 820? logical question considering that the 720's and 820's have the same TDP @ 45 watts.

Just one question, is there an option for overclocking 920xm in 17 R2 bios?

I would stay away from the M17xR2 altogether until the issue is resolved. There are other options with asus and clevo.

If you can afford to wait, then wait. If you MUST have a computer, either look into other options or go with what's working for people NOW. You can always switch out the processor later.

Based on current data, the 720QM seems to have the "least" problems, but that might change after the update from Alienware...maybe they'll find the gremlins that escaped from their cages, and lock them back up, so that all the 920's will run fine again.
