well you all understand it but what my question is should i wait for the 9800M GTX be released by AW or just go for the 8800M GTX right now? will it make such a big difference getting the 9800M GTX over the 8800M GTX??? i knwo the 9800 is better but by how much (what ive heard is 1/7th better) will that make a big enough difference to see in games such as oblivion , CoD 4 and Crysis? hopefulyl you guys can help me out ( oh and i dont wanna keep waiting forever) do you guys think it will take forever for them to release the 9800M GTX? and well finally the most important WILL they release it :p i know Sager took it out of there system hopefully AW does not do that aswell

The 9800M GTX will be hotter. It's not yet released. It is better but not groundbreakingly better such as the 8800M GTX vs. Go 7950GTX. Finally, it should cost more (I guess ?)... I would go with the 8800M GTX.... and PhysX support from nVidia has arrived on it as of today (tested myself).

    9800m-gtx vs. 8800m-gtx
    420 gigaflops vs. 360 gigaflops
112 stream processors vs. 96 stream processors

    14k 3dmark06 vs. 12.5k 3dmark06 (estimate, w/ X9000)

    probably worth it. :D

i cant see it ever being released for the m15x otherwise you will need a wrap round cooler with air conditioning to keep it from melting.

So will be the GTX280M (or whatever it'll be called)... but ya can't wait forever... ;) Not to mention if it's the m15x that you're waiting for with 9800M GTX, it'll be even hotter than the 8800M GTX (I believe)... thus more problems... but I don't doubt AW's capability to take business threatening risks like that (again)..

yea it's more powerful, but as for cost and heat, i think the 8800 GTX is more worth it money wise. but if you have the cash i would go for the 9800 as well.

omaryunus has an m17x... and he asked AW, and they're testing the 9800m-gtx in the m17x... so it shouldn't take that long, and be feasible to boot.

yea but they were very vague they said it could be next week or a month or two which confused me alot and well the m17x has much better cooling than the m15x as i have seen... oh and will the jump from 8700s to 8800 GTX make a big difference? will it be worth the upgrade?

Now THAT is a totally worthwhile upgrade... almost 2-2.5 times the performance! (that's if you're talking of single 8700M GT vs. single 8800M GTX). The 8700M GT pretty much equals the Go 7950GTX, and the 8800M GTX is far superior to both.

Weird, I just tried updated the drivers on my 8800m gtx from Nvidia themselves (selecting GeForceM/Go; GeForce 8M Series; GeForce 8800m GTX; Vista 32-bit; yeah I'm still on 32 bit Vista) but the installer said it couldn't find any relevant drivers. :(

Mind letting me know how you tested it and where? :D
If over 750$ more justifies 1500 3dmarks ,sure...
    I DON'T BUY THAT.
The 8800M GTX SLI already runs pretty hot in the m17x, SLI 9800M GTX will make it into a toaster...

If it's really a $750 difference, it might not be worth it just yet. Unless of course, you have the cash to throw around.

Btw, anyone else having trouble updating to the latest August 5th 8800m gtx driver?

    In my secret lab :D
But seriously... considering Clevo is not including it in the M860TU as opposed to the 9800M GT, it's clearly not marginally but probably unacceptably hotter... and (obviously), the same would go for the M15X..

uh... using dates might not be the best method of referring to drivers... care to tell us the version of the driver you're referring to?

nVidia PhysX properties (Geforce PhysX option no longer grayed out), the 3DMark Vantage Physics test (score jumped from 7 OPS to 75 OPS ), Unreal Tournament 3 PhysX maps work MUCH faster, etc.

Yes, the two CTF maps - Lighthouse and Tornado.

EDIT: Unfortunately, AGEIA PhysX only features in certain games don't work. :( Heard of Crazy Machines II ? Well, the AGEIA PhysX only levels don't work... guess they're particularly looking for the AGEIA PhysX PPU card, even though PhysX as such works... That would mean the bonus PhysX level in GRAW2 wouldn't work either, among others...

Try downloading the modded inf. file from laptopvideo2go.com then copy this file and overwrite it into the nvidia driver. It should install.
