Well i'm looking over my config and its roughly 3,600 with the 8700 card. Now i'm thinking to myself should I just go ahead and spend the other 400 to get the 8800gtx which i won't really put to use, but would be nice to game at max when i do game.

    It's a must...
Upgrade the HDD and the RAM at a later time. Discard Turbo Memory (which you don't need). Etc etc...
That GPU is AMAZING and a must on this laptop (and to be honest, I think that if you go for the 8700 you have PLENTY of other options that would be much better thant the AW).

Get the 8800M. It will go a very long way to future proofing your system. The performance bonuses are HUGE. The 8800M will outperform SLI 8700s   ;)

the whole point of m15x is the 8800m gtx, if you're not getting it, might just as well get yourself a dell m1530 with 1/3 of the price.

Get it. The only reason why I don't have it yet is b/c I needed a system quick, so I did quickship, which came with the 8700. But, I fully plan on installing a 8800 asap.

Yeah, a self-upgraded RAM and HDD is always a cheaper alternative.

There is no point in getting a M15x without the 8800m GTX, its the only thing that justifies buying it in the face of its many flaws.

Power in a smaller package seems to be the theme for the m15x, the 8800GTX will keep that theme alive!

at the price point you might as well. I went with an 8700 but I'm not gonna game to much and I'm not picky about settings. I didn't have the extra cash and a spare battery and more speed elsewhere mattered more. All in all my machine was about 2000 dollars so by no means a big expensive beast

really, why bother if you're going to get something less powerful than the 8800gtx. if you're not a gamer, i probably would look elsewhere and save some money.

although chaz will roll in soon and delete these posts, i think obama will pull through in the end. although palin was a smart (but NOT good) choice for VP, i think obama delivers the "change" message better.

Demo's have always been good with "change messages". Just hope he doesn't change all the things that don't need change.

And McCain would vote for the 8800 gtx if he was on this forum. :p

You're just not the same without your avatar and signature. :( Would have been cool if the m860tu would have worked out for you, but I can understand you not willing to deal with that heat issue. Get a new avatar up soon, later bro!

Ahaha... Funny you mention the heat issue!

If you read through both reviews on Notebookcheck, you will find a part where they measure surface temperatures.
Guess who has the hottest surfaces? :)
I'll help you... Steve's future computer, the m15x.

So yes, I guess it's funny how people started to freak out. I guess people should really understand that these are not normal laptops. They are costumized high performance gaming laptops that run much hotter than normal laptops do.
These laptops... are not for everyone! ;)
