I know this question has been asked many times, but I can't seem to find it when I need it.

I updated my GPU driver to 177.92. When I enabled the SLI configuration and wanted to play games, I got a green vertical line on the left side of the screen with the word "SLI". I don't know how to get rid of it. Either I can disable the SLI or reinstall the factory driver 174.82, which it what I did.

What is the latest driver for the 8800m GTX? And if installed, will it clear the SLI green bar when I play games?

183.13 ? ive never heard of these? did you make a custom INI or somthing? Laptopvideo2go usually has mos the new ones up, if this is new and good for SLI let me know i currently on the 179.13 and might be going to 177.92 TWEAKFORCE ones when my replacement cards get put in.

I've heard SLi users have had good results with the 178.15 drivers. I think OB also tested blu-ray on them and found it to be compatible.

yea, they are just the fixed versions of 178.13, but the benchmarks for the 179.13(the 178.13/.15 but made for mobile systems by alienware) are the highest, and when i put those on my machine its like my SLI just got freed, though i have not tried 177.92 tweakforce version ive heard alot of good from those aswell, since they were custom tweaked for mobile systems and the GX2 style SLI of the 8800m GTX

    Yeah they're very good.

If you have Blu-ray use the 178.15 drivers otherwise the 179.15 drivers give good performance and I don't have any problems with Sli, If you get them to work, go to manage 3D settings and set Sli performance Mode to "Force alternate Frame Rendering 2"

I just installed the 178.15 and I can't play blu-ray movies. I have POWERDVD 8 ULTRA. It workes with the old driver only. How did you get it to work?

for the green thingy you're talking about, its an indicator of how much SLI is working, removing it is easy. right click on desktop, Nvidia Control Panel --> 3D settings-----> untick Show SLI visual indicators.

To be honest all i've done to my m17x is strip all programs that I don't want installed, or running. Followed "Black Vipers" guide to services and then I updated my graphics drivers and found that i'd uninstalled PowerDVD which came pre-installed.

Eventuatlly Alienware kindly sent me a new copy of PowerDVD 7.3 BD edition, which I installed and found I could play Blu-Ray...

The 179... drivers do not allow it to work so i'm now using the 178.15 which allows BD to play...

I now try new drivers with PowerDVD to see if they support BD or not...

I haven't done a clean install or anything like that, just turned off features I don't want to use to reduce resources...
