Hi, I currently have a m17x with 4 GBs of ram, I'm going to be going to college soon and just wanted to know if there was any difference between the two? I use windows 7 64 bit.

Only if you use apps that can utilize more than 4GB. If your asking the question then you don't. 4GB should be plenty.

I ran my desktop with 4, 6 and 8GB and performance was equal between the three configurations (Vista Home 32 Bit, then 64 Bit then Windows 7 64 Bit). The only time i pushed over 4GB was with Computer Chess, Deep Rybka 3 with Hash Tables 1024 MB however Chess runs just as well with 256 MB Hash Table RAM, well within 4GB. In my opinion 4GB is the sweet Spot so that's what I went with on my M15x..
