Hey guys
I am wondering how much would be the cheapest I could get the Core i7 920XM CPU OEM for and where I can get it.
Also, would it be worth the upgrade over my current 820QM?
Thanks

Not worth it at this time, wait and see what Alienware does with their A03 R2 BIOS. If gaming is all you do then it's definitely not worth it. Buy an SSD or more RAM instead.
If you do mostly multimedia/3D rendering then buy a 920XM. -
I paid $644 on ebay after bing 8% cashback for an OEM not es processor from a good seller. Keep your eye out!
But zero is correct! You will see a much larger gain with a SSD....You already have a great processor the 820qm is super fast! -
Yeah, thanks for your help guys.
I'm very pleased with the speed of my 820; I just thought that if I could get a 920 for cheap then it'd be worthwhile..
Okay, how much would it be to upgrade my 2 4870s to 2 5870s? Are they even available to buy and if so, where from? -
well, no xfire 5870's for the m17x yet....But, watch the already created thread as it will be posted within seconds of the release! These guys are fast to post with updates. It will be VERY costly to update in the beginning...probably over 1000 minimum. Enjoy what you have, you have a great system! The only thing I would get would be one of the intel x25 ssd's for a boot drive if I was you. my opinion...for what its worth...lol
