So i looked at my settings in my computer and my current graphics driver is a generic PNP 9400M, is this the most powerful setting my 260M can be run at? In power options I have high performance enabled as well.

Hi invinceable,
I'm guessing you're running on the 9400 a the current moment. You can always switch back to the 260s by enabling stealth. Also, there's one driver for both the 9400 and the 260s.
Thanks,

Hmmm, yep it looks as if I am running the 9400. Where would I enable stealth though, I don't see that in the power options

The F7 key switches between cards.

I reinstalled Vista so that doesn't appear to work for me
Any other way to change it ? -
did you install all the drivers for it

Two options in personalize are "Generic PnP Monitor on NVIDIA GeForce 9400M G"
And
"(Default Monitor) on NVIDIA GeForce 9400M G"
Is it one of these? -
You need to switch between onboard and dedicated graphics not stealth mode as stated earlier. The 9400m is your onboard graphics and 260ms or whatever are your dedicated ones. Look at your function key shortcuts on the ummm function keys (F1 - F12), there should be one labelled U/D GFX or similar, most likely on the F7 key. Hit Fn + F7 (or whatever key) and it a popup will ask you if you want to restart. Click yes and hopefully when it restarts you will have engadged the dedicated cards.
Another thing that could have happened is your dedicated cards show up as the 9400m in device manager for some reason. The only way to test which is activated is to try out a game and check out the performance if it still shows up as 9400m.
When you reinstalled your OS did you install the OSD utility ? -
Stealth mode is the ability to switch between the 260 and the 9400. If you look at your touch controls, the furthest touch control to the right of the system (looking like a speedometer) is your stealth control. Just enable it and you'll switch over to the 260s. You can check to see which video card is being used by simply looking in your display settings. The video card that's being listed is what's currently in use. When you switch to your 260s via stealth mode, it will say "Generic PnP Monitor on Nvidia GeForce GTX 260M."
Update: The M17X will switch between your 9400 and 260s in real time. No restart is required.
Thanks,

I am having the same problem, I have installed drivers like crazy, pressed the "speedometer" button and the fn+F7 button, but nothing happens, it always stays on the 9400m G card. I have tried playing a game, and it runs slower than what it did when I had Vista.

Another thing you can do is go into the bios and disable the integrated graphics and it should force it back to the GTX 260's. Give that a shot and let us know.

got it.
I restarted the computer with Hybrid enabled in the bios, and pc screen would go black when windows started, so i disabled hybrid, and disabled integrated, restarted with standard VGA and then re-loaded the dell drivers which only recognized the 260m's.
One quick question though, my old laptop would show 2 video cards because I had SLI, as I do on this system, but control panel only shows one video adapter.
9400M same as 260M?
