hey guys and gals, not posted for a while, but have been reading. it seems many many people have had and are still having problems, some serious, some not so, with their m15x. ive had my m15x for about 4 5 months now, and the only problem i experienced was that the touch controls stopped working everynow and then after the laptop went into hibernation. now yes, i count that as a problem, but not devastatingly so. once i downloaded the bios update and installed it with the help of some nice guys in this forum, the problem dissapeared. since then, the laptop has worked faultlessly.

i dont play many games, infact i dont really do much on it all. i got sucked in by all the fancy lights and its high spec, and im not ashamed to admit that. and boy, i am impressed. it is definately the fastest computer i have used, boot times, application loading times, music production, all work quickly and without any errors. the screen is fantastic, i just read someone moaning about the fact it is only HDMI out, im sorry, but its clearly stated on the website, and anyway, the laptop is designed around HD, so what is there to moan about? by just plugging in one cable i can watch bluerays off my laptop on my hd tv or just watch it in glorious hd whilst in bed on the laptop.

ive downloaded a few demos of games and they have all worked without a hitch, and most of them with top specs.

i know im in the minority, but F*%" it, i love, LOVE my m15x.

I remember way back when you were looking to around the forum getting opinions on things/asking about the notebook - and now here you are a full 4/5 months later with your laptop still in tip-top condition :)
I'm glad to see this and hope things keep looking up for you !!

The ones that seem to have major problems are the ones that post about problems ask for help and they are fix. The ones that Post over and over with out much use are the ones that had refunds and now are Flaming Alienware.

What he said... the people who have problems come on to forums, the people without problems don't have much need to go looking around forums for solutions to non existent problems... of course there are a few of us who like to look around to help people out with those problems, if possible.

So, basically, what you see on the forums is all the people with problems, and the people without problems are happily enjoying their laptops.

i can understad the point being made that people only seem to use these types of forums when they are having problems. i started looking on here first to find out what people thought of the laptop before i got one. if i had taken everything i read on board, i would never have ordered my m15x as a lot of people were having big problems. but i thought, ive wanted an alienware for a long time, i had the money become avaliable, so im just gonna do it. and im very happy i did, and i just though it would be good to see a thread on here that was positive towards what i consider to be an awesome laptop. maybe i am the lucky one, or as mentioned above, maybe im the only person with a m15x that works that is reading the forums aswell as just using it.

i hope all off you that have recently ordered and waiting get your m15x in top condition and problem free.

No dsproductions you where the ones that had system work right. Then showing facts the system was running great. It a few people who have problems. That start problems.

The few that had problems that dont use this fourm as it should be that flame the Notebook Maker of the laptop. Then you see 4x the problems that it should be.

I Had M5550 laptop that had major problems. I did not pout to Mommy or use notebookreview as flame bait for a problem. I use notebook review to get facts and info. Then use it to help me fix the issue.

    My problems where bad.

For dsproductions Thumbs up. You have a great system that has no problems.

dsproductions, I'm very happy to hear that your machine has served your purposes well, and it's good to see a "best case scenario" in addition to some of the "worst case scenarios" that other users have come here to discuss. As has already been said, while a lot of people who have problems come here to vocalize those issues, most of the happy customers are too busy enjoying their laptops to come tells us about it! That makes your message very meaningful, and we appreciate you coming to tell us.

    -----

AtolSammeek, your behavior (which has already been reprimanded once) is hardly any more mature than the anti-Alienware crusaders you're now flaming. Most of the people who have come here with problems have made attempts to solve the problems on their own, and when they weren't able to, they came here for help.

You should realize that that is a good thing: only a fool would try to fix a problem too big for them on their own. Furthermore, these forums are a terrific source of helpful people, including Alienware representatives. Seriously, I was blown away when I first saw that Alienware-Armando and Alienware-James were personally assisting me with my problems. Anyone who DOESN'T come here to solve their problems is wasting their time doing things the hard way!

Now, Atol, I agree with you about some things. I understand that some people are more passionate about their frustrations than other people. They feel that they have been cheated or lied to when they took a gamble with their machine and lost the gamble, and they want to protect other people from making the same gamble.

I sort of agree with them. I think it's very important to make an informed decision before gambling money on frontline software or hardware (and ALL frontline software/hardware is a gamble, from Alienware or any other company). I know for a fact that if someone has a problem with the new Sager 8660, I would want to see those problems on these forums before I spend my money! I would be offended if people stopped talking about their problems just because some other people thought they were whining too much.

But yes, I also agree with you, because you're partly right. Some people become so blinded by their frustrations that everything they say can become an attack on Alienware. Just remember: that's no better than someone else turning everything they say into an attack on the complainers.

And don't clump everyone who has problems together and assume we all just came here because we're big babies. That's rude and insulting.

    -----

dsproductions, may your machine continue to serve you well. May all your hits be crits, may all your unit upgrades be cheap, and may all your shots be headshots.

I'm still completely happy with my m15x and have no major problems. I think people just have to read about the potential pitfalls and filter out the witch hunt AW bashing threads like that "1001 reasons not to buy the m15x one..." No offense to milcs of course...

I mean, it's got some rough edges and I wouldn't ever recommend a 2.8 x9000 processor in the machine, but anything below with a 8800mGtx should work fine. I'm still impressed that several months after debut of the m15x, no other manufacturer has been able to step up to the plate and match or exceed the combined features&performance. It's really an impressive little machine if you think about it. I'm sure AW learned a few lessons with this chassis design, and it's not perfect but it's the best out there in a 15" gaming laptop at the moment and looks to be the best available for some time to come.

i would have to say that voicing problems is a very important part of new products. if people dont voice their views and their problems, then many people would end up buying products that have major faults.

i just want to voice the only major problem i have had with my laptop, and it wasnt the actual laptop, it was indeed AW. i had to wait like everyone else who ordered their laptops early, to wait a very long time, i was repeatedly told different stories on the same day by different AW reps, and different to what other forum users were being told. now, yes, it was highly frustrating, id just spent over £2200 on a laptop for gods sake. but, as annoying as it was, patience is indeed a virtue. i rang a few times, but i was told "itll be two weeks for this part" so i waited 2 weeks then rang, then i was told itll be the end of the month for this part, so, i waited till the end of the month. at the end of the day, it was basically a brand new product, and they had problems. no company in the world has gone on without having problems.

now yes, maybe i was lucky to finally recieve my laptop in full working order and not had any problems, myself, i put it down to karma, but others are appearing. yes its been out long enough to hopefully have ironed out any serious probs. and at the end of the day, if you have to install the new bios to sort out heat or touch control problems, it takes what, 5 minutes? is that really that bad.

AW is a massive company, they shouldnt have the sort of supply and production problems they had/have but all companies suffer at some stage. all the people waiting for their m15x, or wanting to know whether to order one or not, i repeat, im extremely happy with mine, if you can put up with poor customer service while you wait, and do get a decent working machine, you will not regret it!

Just something funny. You notice not many of the people who had problems are posting here?

The only problem I had with my laptop and it the m17x is one key fell off. I had the keyboard replaced. Which was easy with mini flat head screwdriver.

hi guys, sorry not posted for a day or two, but ive been at the hospital, me and my fiance have just had our first child together, a beautiful little girl called tori. so as you can imagine, ive been spending alot of time just staring at her cute little face lol.
but back to the topic, id be interest to hear about the m17x, taking a quick look at the specs, it seems that the only real bonuses are obviously sli, and a bigger screen. now i can possibly, just about understand the need for them if you are a serious gamer, but otherwise? correct me if im wrong. but to relate it back to the original thread point, for everyday circumstances and use, im pretty sure theres no many things my m15x wont do, and having just run a little quote on the AW site having the same spec but with the added extra of the dual 8800gtx, its over £500 more. its not THAT much i know, but is it worth it? does two cards make the graphics £500 better? ive never used a computer with sli before so dont really know

well, SLI will never give you a 100% increase in GPU power, it's usually around 40% (i believe, do correct me if i'm wrong). so it's not that effective. but if you've already got the strongest and best GPU, and still want more horsepower, it's the only way to go...
