    Hey all,

I've been reading on these forums for awhile now for info about the m17x r3, but I have a few questions I'd like to clear up before I spend $2000+ on this baby and It'll be my first alienware.

    1. I've been reading that if you get the 3d package Optimus will not work. Optimus and battery life are more important to me then 3d and I just wanted to be sure that Optimus was enabled with the 460m if the 3d package is not selected.

    2. How is the battery life with Optimus and a 9 cell battery? Has anyone tried this? Does it make much of a difference over the standard battery that comes with the r3? What about the battery life with a 9 cell battery and the 3d package?

    3. Does the m17x support dual screen output? This wouldn't make or break the deal for me, just curious about the possibility.

    4. Has anyone tried using this laptop or the r2 on a plane? If so, how easy/hard was it?

    5. Does anyone have any suggestions for a carrying case for this bad boy? Are the one's offered by dell any good?

Thanks guys! I just need to be absolutely sure about these things before I spend this much money.

And please keep in mind that it's a big, hungry, DTR. The battery is more of a UPS than something you want to your laptop off of on purpose.

Unless of course you have the IGP switching working, then you have several hours of battery time.

So are there any stats about the battery life with optimus (no 3d)? I see a bunch with the ATI card and with the 3d bundle, but none with optimus.

Where do you see the ATI card with 3D bundle? 3D is NOT supported on the ATI, or should I say AMD cards? ;)

He means he's read feedback of ATI/AMD card on the r3, and feedback of the 460m w/3D bundle, but not 460m w/o 3D bundle.

On the Intel graphics I get about five and a half hours of battery life...but I don't have the 3D.
