it is definitely awesome. if it wasnt for the sticker i would really hate to use the touchpad on the m15x. it makes the m15x look cooler and the touch pad feel better. the only regret i have is that when i first got the m15x i was so excited to start using it that the sticker is crooked when i placed it on :(

RAID with the SB HDD? won't work, unless you'll ALWAYS have the second HDD in there as well, prohibiting you from ever using your optical drive again.

Just an update on current m15x's condition

It has been sent back for the hinge issue since the hinge on the right side(processor side) opened up. For some strange reason no plastic came out of the hinge tho. The crack isnt too big and it was hard to get a pic of it since its not as big as the other people's.

What i did find amazing was how the hinge broke 2 - 3 weeks ago and it never opened up any bigger. Had to keep using it since i still had school. I think it might be because i kept taking off the little rubber piece and tightening the screw like 3 times a week. Since the hinge cracked the screw would get loose pretty easily so i might of slowed down more cracking or stopped it from cracking anymore just by tightening the screw. i also noticed that the hinge became more sturdy again so everyone should listen to iElSayed and tighten their hinge. When the hinge opened the noticed the right side which is the side that cracked makes a lot more noise when i open it.

I did ask Roswell if they could change it skull cap since most people who have the m15x at school has ripley >>. they said it could not be done.

They also let me take the hard drive out so i didnt have to get my data wiped. They said that if i didnt take it out there would be a 50% chance of it getting wiped.

Ill just use this thread to update how the repair turned out i guess. Just sad i have to go back to played games on my desktop. Desktop only has a Petnium 4 3.0 GHz, 1 gig of ddr1 ram, and a ATI x800 :( . Miss my laptop already -_-.

Here are some pics i guess

How does fixing the laptop have anything to do with wiping your HD? :)

i have no idea :/ but the Roswell lady said that there would be a 50% chance it would get wiped. So if there are any other people whos going to send it in for hinge problem you minus will take the hard drive out. i wouldnt mind getting it wiped but i dont want to pay the school another 200 for programs to be reinstalled.

great review exiled. as a fellow student, battery life is no doubt a very important factor in choosing a laptop. as such, i was wondering what length of time can you surf the web and take notes using the integrated graphics, stealth mode, and the smartbay battery? i've heard a lot of people say 4 to 8 hours, yet this is quite a big difference.

yea the battery life really depends on a lot of factors. especially if the screen is bright. i usually have it on level 3 with wifi on and most of the time the dedicated gpu on since im too lazy to switch to integrated. with the dedicated on, level 3 brightness, wifi on i can get around 2 hrs of battery so i can get around 4 - 5 hrs. im sure i can get more if i turn that integrated on tho.

    just got it back.

the hinge has closed up and it doesnt crack and creak when i open it anymore. Lets hope this last. The only complaint i have was i had to remove the cpu heatsink to get out this piece of plastic that was moving around inside the computer >>.
