There's a power plan in this feature pack that's been getting me 6 hours battery life run time on my M17x R4. That's pretty respectable for a 17.3" laptop with an i7 and GTX 675M. Just thought I'd share it.

    Feature Enhancement Pack

Do a custom install and only install the power profile.

    Thanks for the heads up!
Wonder if I'll have similar results with a 7970M.
Also are you running under the HD4000 or the 675M only? Light browsing, any videos etc?
So far battery indicator for me says 3hours 35 minutes under this plan, wonder how accurate that is :/
Will test and report back :)

I try not to do anything that will use the 675M. The 6hr runtime is for browsing, streaming videos, light work, etc.

When I want to play games, I plug in and use the full power of my laptop. It's nice to have the flexibility of being able to use the machine for almost 6hrs if I need to or use the full power of the graphics card.

Or, if I really wanted to game, I could do that on battery but it'd only last about 2hrs. It's all about flexibility and being able to fulfill all your needs in every scenario! :)
