    Hi folks, a little concerned...
Having had my (awesome) M17x for a few months now, I have only just noticed a buzzing sound coming from my power supply (the big transformer part). It is possible that I simply havent heard it before as the fans are quite loud and the transformer is usually on the floor, but I would just liek to confirm with others if this is normal or not?

    Thanks

Does not sound normal at all. Try a different power outlet - if its the same, then contact Dell Support and report the issue. If under warranty they can dispatch a replacement power brick out to you. Once it arrives, pack the original in the same box and use the included shipping label to send it back.

Thanks BatBoy, seems like that what I'll have to do.
While working on the laptop just, when i click a different tab the buzzing stops. I thought it was a coincidence but it happens everytime, and is stopped for the duration the mous button is down. The buzz is definitely coming from the adapter.
Have tried clicking elsewhere and there is no change, but as soon as I click another tab in V++ again it stops, and if i unplug the mouse the buzzing continues - unless the mouse button is clicked when i unplug it...the most rediculously strange condition I've ever come across!

Any ideas at all why this could be happening?

Are you sure its coming from the actual brick or is it coming from the connector (system side)? If the brick, its probably just a bad power supply. If its coming from the back of the system where the connection is made, then it could be the motherboard or display. Call support ASAP and have them troubleshoot.

Had the same, the power brick started buzzing as soon as i did something graphically intense.

They sent me a replacement but this one was even worse.

Now i can't get a new one anymore because my warrenty has expired.

    Oh well....bad luck :(.

Mine has been buzzing since I got it(for like 6 months now)...it's a continuous buzz tho. Haven't noticed any problems aside from the fact that the buzz is slightly annoying..guess I should get a replacement eventually. :p

The older power bricks were notorious for this (I have 2 130W adapters *NEW* that function perfectly but do that fun chirping/buzzing sound all the time).

I thought they had fixed this with the new power bricks as my 230W does NOT make that noise now (either that or I have lost the ability to hear that tonal range after 5 years of living with it  )

If you are under warranty you can get a replacement and hope that it is better (not worse) but it is a gamble.
Either way, it should not cause any functional problems.. just that ANNOYING sound.
