    Hello everyone!
My m17x AC power adapter died a couple days ago, just quit working. Being I am in Iraq now, this is a major nuisance. Also being a tech who fixes electronics for a living and noticing a spec reading on the brick for a fuse rating, the most common type fuse spec no less, I opened it up, knowing I can easily find a standard 250V~ 10A fuse even out in this rock. Sadly the fuse inside was not a standard form factor, so getting one would take just as long as ordering a new power supply (since I effectively voided the warranty).

Where I am located, it takes a week or two longer than typical mail takes to reach Iraq. Meaning, barring the little bit of battery charge, my m17x is effectively dead, as long as a month, for the lack of a $0.20 fuse lol. Therefore, I ordered three adapters from Dell, just to make sure I will not be down if this happens quickly again. Additionally, in case it was the poor quality of power here, I've order some strong surge protectors.

    I've got two questions:
    1. Anyone else had the problem of their AC adapter buring out quick? I've seen Blade's post, and ironically I have the Delta Adapter. I'm hoping I just got a dud, and searching this forum and the net seems to suggest that is the case.

    2. This concerns me more: The adapter that came with my system was rated at 240W. Even the instructions state it has a 240W adapter. Other people on this board also have 240W. Yet, I noticed (after I ordered of course) the only replacement adapter available on Dell for the m17x is rated at 210W. Will this be a problem? I mean I had to order at least one or I'm stuck with a $4500 paperweight, but I would like to know, while I anxiously wait for mine, if anyone here has used the 210W without any problems?

As a side note, I have been very happy with my system. Ran GTA IV, Far Cry 2, Fallout 3 on max settings without any problems. I love it!

    Thanks guys.

When I first ordered my M17X I placed an order for a second adapter to keep in my laptop bag. The one on the web site is 240w and will work fine. Or you can call them and tell them you want Power Adapter p/n J211H.
That's the first Delta I have heard of going bad, I have 2 Deltas now and both work fine. Good luck on getting a new one fast.

Maybe I just got a dud then. Well, the only m17x adapter listed in laptop power accessories clearly states 210W. But it does have a different mft # than the one you gave me. I will try calling them and seeing if they have that one. Unfortunately I did not see the option to order a 2nd AC adapter when I was placing the order, and I just tried it again. (Dang them they have a blueray burner option now!!!!)
I hate to think Dell is deliberately selling a part that does not work with the system they say its for....
    Thanks.
