how long did it take for you to recieve your AW after the status was changed to shipped? I have had a laptop stolen/lost in this mail system before 3 years ago and im getting worried. I ordered a Slappa backpack for it like 5 days after the AW was "shipped" and recieved it a few days ago. still no AWshould i be worried or am i just over reacting because of past experiences

I've ordered the:
M17x R1, 3-4 weeks, estimated delivery 2 months out, Delivered 20 DEC 2009
M11x R1 3-4 weeks, estimated delivery 2 months out, Delivered late Feb early march 2010,
M17x R2 3-4 weeks, estimated delivery 2 months out, delivered mid/late June 2010 when I was on leave.
All three shipped to Baghdad. The notebook should be safe as it will be insured. Dell estimates 2 months out because they have no control over the military system and a lot can affect shipping times Shipping times may have even been shorter, can't quite remember. -
ok cool i got mine from the outlet and it was free shipping is it still insured? bet dell has a discount to ship to apo/fpo since they have government contracts

Anyway, my M17xR1 was shipped to my old man's house and he shipped it to me right away. Keeping in mind that I am not in Baghdad, but a remote FOB, my laptop took only 9 days to get here. -
Yea, may be quicker shipping to a family members house, and then forwarded on. Then you can get next business day shipping free through haggling, and have it forwarded. I've also had dell reps say they can't ship to an APO, but if you get one that knows what he's doing, then it can be shipped APO. But as lordgarlyn pointed out, a remote FOB could take a little longer because once the mail gets to the hub, in my case Baghdad, then it gets transferred and moved around from location to location making it's way to your unit. But even orders through Dells outlet will be insured. They don't want to replace it any more than you want to have it stolen. I insure all things I ship that are important or valuable. I was told by an APO worker that insured items get seperated, and the insurance is kinda like a hands off sign, and things uninsured are much more likely to be broken into. I returned my R1 and insured it and it made it back to dell safe and sound, though it took several weeks, and several more to process my refund.

well now i heard from the postal that no mail till monday because of Ramadan or whatever. I am at a Fob about 30 min helo ride from Bagdad, pretty much all my mail has made it here pretty fast but none of it was really insured so maybe that is the hold up.

That's kinda unusual since all US mail in Iraq is handled by US personnel, either contractor or military. I can see a delay of mail stuck in Bahrain or Qatar due to Ramadan, but it strikes me as strange that mail would be delayed in Iraq because of the holiday.
But then again, on this FOB the post office closes on Sundays... -
mail call tomorrow. *crosses fingers* please have my space ship!
