A few months ago the graphics card on my notebook went caput [NVIDIA GeForce NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 256Mb] I phoned up Alienware customer service and asked what I could do, and they said that another graphics card would cost £130 which is stupidly overpriced.
I take it that the pc and notebook NVIDIA cards are different right?
Does anybody know anywhere where I could buy the notebook graphics card from? (preferably in the uk). Any help would be much apreciated, thanks.

You are right - PC cards cannot be used in notebooks.

If Alienware does not use a straight-up MXM card, you'll have to buy it from them or find a part of eBay or something.

Were they replacing it with another 7600? Because an 8600 for £130 would be a nice upgrade.

Well the laptop's problem is that it's overheating all the time, so I would assume that it would overheat a lot more with a more upgraded card :( Thanks a lot for the advice though guys, guess I'll have to buy it from the company then, ah well hehe :p

The overheating sounds like my Frist Motherboard GethinOgwen. I am on my 3 Motherboard and the laptop still not working right.

Is the problem where you are running 90c or higher depending on the cpu.

The M5550 was known to overheat all the time. Getting a new graphics card won't solve your problem unfortunately.

Take a look at the cooling guide - get yourself a nice cooling pad. When I tested the M5550, I found it ran much cooler with one.

They fix my overheating problem. If your still under Warrintee ask them to replace the Motherboard.

It took them 4 times untel they listen to me.

1 Frist time Grapics card and heatsink
    then 3 heatsink
Then they replaced the motherboard which seems to fix the overheating problem.
