ATI Catalyst 9.1 Official Release.. Finally?

Ok.. Here's the link to the ATI 9.1 Catalyst Drivers! Not sure how many of you keep up with this, but this driver is WAY late! It's about time.. I will begin modding a driver ASAP - the only thing holding me back? ATI is still messing around, and they have the page just not the proper files! OMG! This is the Cat download page advertising 9.1 - BUT IT's 8.12! Anyhow, I assume that in 44 minutes(12AM Pacific Standard time), the download will be updated. In the meantime, this is where to download the newest driver! I hope it's amazing, cause they have kept us waiting for quite some time.

If you're impatient, mob mod the driver to install. Otherwise, new thread with E-wrecked's Bored Mod will be available as soon as this driver is.

i just freakin downloaded 8.12 to ughhhh gonna take forever lol wellll hope we see major gains be sure to report some 3 d marks and any game play differences guys !!!!!

 

ATI is slacking..big time - they make us wait til the end of the month...THEN post a page that DOES NOT include the 9.1 Download!

They performed within 1 point of my 8.12 3dmark benchmark.. odd. And, something just doesn't seem right. Anyhow..give it a shot if you like, will post modded version when ATI releases their official version.

the ones on sapphires web site are NOT THE 9.1 they are the 8.12's i downloaded both 32 and 64 both are 8.12

 

so the news is? ATI still does nothing for us?

-i clean the old driver
-i moddet the new 9.1 and the same problem since 2 months ....

yeah did it perfect. hope they work well for ya. I noticed no difference in benchmarks..but gonna try again with another clean driver install.

 

scheisse only this i can say, i contact alienware now i don´t want to lose more time for this problem. Alienware must give a new driver not only one basic of the 8.5....

Downloaded and modded the Xp32 from the link below, but once installed it`s showing up as 8.5 not 9.1 any ideas

sounds like you didn't fully remove the previous driver. did you use driver sweeper/cleaner to remove the ATI leftovers, and do a clean install? Can you post a screen shot of the info screen from CCC?

I dont have an Alienware it`s my backup laptop an Toshiba with an Radeon 9700.

I installed the drivers with Revo Uninstaller and manualy deleted the Ati directory from C: , I will post a pic soon.

makes more of a difference on the desktop than on the notebook. going to try real world use and see what it looks like. makes my 4870x2 crossfire setup on my desktop work perfect no more reboots after install or bsod's like i had with everything but the hotfix..

 

i didnt do a clean install i just mob modded and clicked the setup button and poof...... so if you say its right i guess i got lucky i unno

 

usually you will be okay and ati has been pretty good lately about the removal of the drivers. the uninstaller does a decent job.

imo i would always recc a clean install but i dont think it needs to be as crazy as some do. i simply run the new installer let it uninstall the old ati FULL program catalyst and driver reboot delete the ati folders and run jv16powertools but ccleaner works well and then reinstall. it doesnt take much more time to do it that way imo.

but i have seen so many just install right over the previous ones and they were fine in most cases

yah i havnt seen any performance jumps with games i tested.
ive been using fraps.
i didnt record my frames with the 8.12s tho,
so i may be getting slightly better performance but i cant tell
with the naked eye.....

 

I'm looking forward to the FC2 benchmark this evening.. Wanna see if these helped the sporadic framerates. And I hope my qx9300 is at home waiting on me! I've got a 6 hour drive to bite my nails. Puullllllleeeeeeeeaaaaaaassssee be there!

 

Have they unlocked the other 16:10 resolutions by any chance?

As far as I know ... he got his taxreturn (never realy understood why he gets something back^^) sooner ... so he didn't^^

New problem! When I try to set in CCC that a "game" wich is running at a lower resolution than the native the "picture" should be streched my LCD gets black and after 1 to 2 seconds it's like it was 2 sec bevor ... but even the "chance" is gone or in other words ... nothing chanced^^

Its the pace where you can select between:
-black bars at bottom and top
-no black bars
-black bars all around

I hope you know what I mean ... I am not @ my m17 so I have no idear how to explain it^^

Posting mod in 5 hours. Still driving. Finished it, gotta tweak it. Also I lost my FTP passwd or I would have uploaded at six this morn. I'm good tho, just gotta get home.

are the drivers i have not perfect and the modded are fixed?

 

I think he means he ran mobility moderr on them already. The drivers won't install unless you do so.

Which sadly mobility modder creates the scaling problem.

 

hmm i am using the driver and have no issues at all with it..

i can hand mod the driver as well. ill do that tonight unless e gets to it first..
