Does it really work?
I just got off the phone with an Alienware representative who says that installing the ATi Radeon Mobility 3870 into the m9750 may work, but may screw up the computer and cause glitches. He suggested just replacing the 7950 GTX's with new ones. He says it may work with Alienwares, just not mine.
How many of you actually got it working?

It works ...... No problems I kno of ... Few members did it

I have a pair working as x2 but the master card runs HOT under load. I had to use a 0.5mm thick copper shim to get the master card to sit flush with the heatsink (purchased from metaloffcuts from ebay thank you very much). The primary reason why it runs so hot now is that the fans never run above 30% ever.
I'd recommend a single card as its slightly better than dual 7950s. Same resolution, but you can enable shadows and it runs cooler even if the fans never kick on above 30%.
Now if I can just figure out what to do with this fan issue... -
I found two 7950 GTXs (Parent and Daughter) on eBay, but they came from an m9700. Would they be compatible or will I come across issues?

they should be compatible, but the 3870's will be MUCH better performance

Everyone is watching for them... -

they are scarce, but not impossible to find

I was able to find one for my whitebook when I had it...and saw a few others on ebay as well during that time
I was checking ebay a couple times a day though, never said they are easy to find lol -
They are very hard to get at the moment, Eurocom sells them new for $324.00 US.. Thats abit steep but if you need one that bad you will pay...lol I will have one in a week, a customer of mine had 2 but will only part with one card and I will be getting it and then reselling it so hit me up in a week if you want it..

Is the $324 price tag for both the Master and Slave cards?
ATi 3870 in m9750?
