Well, since the last news for 9750 owners was about the 8800m GTX, let's make this thread about the HD 3800, since that's what the last thread was delving into.

http://www.nordichardware.com/index.php?news=1&action=more&id=7170 is the news of the release.

Performance of the HD3800 in Triple Crossfire and 4.6GHz CPU
    http://www.nordichardware.com/news,7559.html

Going to the second link, a score of 24,400 in 3DMark06 (but on a 4.6GHz o_O) is impressive, but I don't think that it'd be much better than an 8800GTX, on the pessimistic (yes, you'll see why) side, looking at around 70% perfomance gains in Crossfire over a single card, we're looking at a single card score of 10,000 (do the maths, 10000+2(70%10000)=24000) and that's with the card overclocked and a 4.55GHz processor, quad. One optimistic thing to say is that the drivers of a prototype card wouldn't exactly be the best ;)
so, if the performance gains of Crossfire would be in the 40% range, which is more likely with whatever drivers they used, that would actually give a single card score of around 15000 to 16000 (you can check the maths again if you want ;)) and that sounds awesome, I'm guessing a score of around 11000 @ Stock clocks or so on our pitiful Merom CPUs, although I'm not sure much of a gain in performance the 4.6GHz Desktop CPU and the 15% overclocking did, so feel free to input your own thoughts...

    Sure beats the 8800m GTX.

But we wont be able to "SLi" the ATi card, since... well kinda obvious since we're using an SLi chipset, so we'd only be able to have one of the cards

That is some interesting news... but like the 8800m GTX, all we can do is hope. The rest is up to AW. On the grounds that a mobile version of the hd 3800 does not yet exist, I think it is safe to say that an 8800m GTX is far more likely to be made available for m9750 owners.

You didn't click on the first link.

the Mobility HD 3800 is MXM-3
    the 8800mGTX isn't.

Ergo, the Mobility HD3800 is more likely.

And unless the rumours of the m17x having an 8800m Ultra are true, there is no chance that Alienware would allow us to put an 8800m GTX in the m9750, it would kill their m15x and m17x sales since despite the platform being old, the processor is good enough for todays games and wont be a bottleneck for a while.

What Ultra? It was never announced by nVidia, nor there are any real rumors for it to arrive. Want faster video cards? Buy another laptop.

Ahhh....FadeToBlack, always bringing us back to reality.

In any case ATI/AMD would really have to push hard to get into this space. They have such a small market share that without a big supplier backing their mobile chip I doubt there will be much production, much less in the MXM format. I do hope I'm wrong but besides HP I really have not seen their GPUs anywhere else.

It really is too bad because I always prefered the Radeons to the GeForces. They are just a better qualtiy card in my opionion. Sure they dont get the top FPS, but their shadow and AA algorithims are sooooo much better.

    So here is to hoping!

Excuse me good sir, I do not in any way intend to flame, however I believe it is you who did not click the first link.

The mobility HD 3800 does not yet exist, and ATI/AMD has not yet announced it will pursue the production of one; therefore the mxm platform it is based on is yet to be determined.
The picture on the link shown WAS of an mxm III card, perhaps, but if you read the article it was assumed to be an HD 3400 or HD 3600 already found in some ASUS models, namely the m50 and F8 series.
And not ALL 8800m GTX cards are mxm HE/IV, it was said that the 8800m series would be available in mxm III AND mxm HE/IV.

Ergo, the 8800m GTX is more likely.

All your logic is belong to me... ;)
