Sometimes the glass half-empty IS the best strategy.... LOL

I would just like to beyond the i380UM swap on the SU7300 for the M11x-R2 what can expect there, I'm this close to pulling the trigger on R-2 with an i7.... I'd hate to then have the prices fall AND a better processor/GPU option come out... wish that buyback was a bit better...

You appear to be getting your wish... but honestly, a lot of systems are just "mobile" why does it have be AW at the expense of gaming?

This is the kind of thing, that even if Dell didn't have a product to show but would have provided a road map for would have gone a long way...

Maybe we will all be surprised and an M13x will be announced on the last day :p

not surprised, just that it's getting a bit old. the race to post about something new and the famous "dell rep told me personally(which one, india or the usa?)" but in another 30 threads the "dell reps dont know jack(dell is outsourcing this and that drama stuff)" bs.
speculations are of course..always welcomed...forced opinions and fabricated upper management reply's to a consumer..a bit out there. i sure as hell wouldn't be telling anyone anything if i worked for dell and am under nda. to many "big mouths ready to copy and paste what you say. which can get most in trouble or even fired.
some may slip of course, but most would not trade their family life style for a no name person on a forum. :)

Seems like each model of Alienware laptops gets a refresh every two years (not the intermittent versions like the M17x r2 but the refreshes where we get new lines of cpu's, gpu's and not to mention new casing) Based on that assumption, there will be a new M15x this spring or Fall, and a new M11x by CES 2012.

Yeah, that's my guess. If you'll notice, the new M17x has the same case design that the M11x introduced at CES 2010. My guess is this new design will be introduced next to the M15x during E3 2011 followed by a whole new case design for the M11x in January 2012.

Slim profile and a gtx 460m..could be throttling due to heat or lack of power again like the M15x. I doubt it's nVidia's fault, their GPU's beautifully in all the Clevo systems.

    05:39:56 Md Maqdoom M
Yes, new Alienware systems would be launching on 10 January. As of now we do not have specific update about the options available. However, we already have the option for SLI/Crossfire with Alienware M17x R2 so it should also be available with M17x R3
    05:40:31 Mozcat
    are you sure?
    05:41:56 Md Maqdoom M
    Yes, the Alienware M17x R2 has option for "CrossfireX™ 1GB GDDR5 ATI Radeon™ Mobility HD 5870" and "SLI® 1GB GDDR3 NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 285M"
    05:42:26 Md Maqdoom M

At least you got the launch date of January 10.

Maybe every laptop will get small, stealth updates on that day. Such as the Core 2 Duo being replaced by a Core i3 in the M11x.

In Tony Stark voice regarding M17x-R3 "Is it too much to ask for both" style AND power :D

Don't get me wrong, I have a feeling it will get a decent benchmark bump... but nothing shattering unless you're into 3D and streaming pR0n to your television...

I'm more PO'd about the lack of an M13x/M14x than anything else...

Well, I am sure there will be driver updates to solve the issues of throttling. We are going to go back to the long road of making the R2 a great PC. It took a while and that is what they will do with the R3. I just don't understand why they can't get it right from the beginning.

Joker you have contact at Alienware, can't you just tell them the frustration of all of us with all the issues such as throttling and that you just don't understand how they can launch a new PC with the same issues again.

We have not heard from erawneila on the R3 yet?

We were beta testers with the R1 and R2.... the R3 will be the intended product. Of course, that is just my opinion. ;)
