Exactly what I did on my second call, he wouldn't budge. :( Told me I couldn't use my EPP coupons on a system that wasn't EPP, and that he couldn't stack them... Only said he could give me free shipping and $25 off the system I configured.
He was kinda disbelieving about the prices some of you guys managed to secure lol. Guess you got lucky...

Yup, same here. Wouldn't take 10% off of my build...
New 13" MacBook Pro for me lol. I get a student discount on ANY system with them, and I don't have to sit on the phone to get it. ;) I told him this, and got a soliloquy on the M11x's performance, etc. Oh well... After talking to three agents, I'm done.

Thanks for the fast response. :)

Did u guys talk with americans? or some heavy accent oversea call center guys?
    Coz it happens a lot .. :|
One Philippine lady tried to convince me tht her offer of 1000$ (i got a 850 $ quote which i showed to her) is better than 850$ ..
They do act so crazy.. I was shouting! after that. and I told her to connect to her manager... but still she would do anything.. she kept me on hold for 40 mins hoping i ll disconnect. and brought me 10$ off... imagine how frustrated i was! and again when i said no.. connect to ur manager.. she would say.. wait i ll talk to him..
    Then hung up!

Ahaha man, sounds tough... Naw, both the guys I talked to were American. He was pretty knowledgable, but he didn't want to talk to his manager. Anyways, I was torn between this and another laptop, guess this just makes it easier for me... Thanks for your help.

On one of the warranty descriptions it says complete care gives you a north american rep to talk to if you have problems. I wonder if there's a direct number to call to just get the US side of business and not the outsourced side.

One thing I noticed is if you call at 9-10 am CST, you will almost always get a American (i.e. not outsourced) rep. On a side note, all the offices in whever

And for those of you guys ordering by phone, don't make the impression that you are a cheapo looking for a deal. Sales associates aren't going to give breaks if you give that impression.

A lot of people who got the massive price breaks ordered theirs before Dell cracked down on the discounts, or were lucky enough to order with a cool rep. (Note: The outsourced reps suck).

And not to poke fun at a Mac, but processor aside, the m11x is a more capable PC than the Mac, and the Mac is much more pricier than the M11x, assuming equal specs (aside from the processors). If this M11x didn't come out, I would have got a Macbook Pro 13.

I didn't get a screaming deal, but my rep REALLY sped up my order, and even honored an expired coupon. My EDD is ...wait for it....3/10/2010. And I ordered on the 3rd.

Needless to say, I think my rep did a good job despite the not so hot price.

    I tried one more time!!!

This time I was lucky enough to get an American rep. But I couldnt get anymore discounts. I tried using the coupons provided by Redhidus and Pmode but they were expired :(
He said he couldnt even give me a deal as good as my previous sales rep gave me which really sucked.

How much do you save when you get NBD shipping?

I have some coupons in my email, I'll link them.

I think it may be for EPP only though, not sure.
    $799-$999 save $50 B$3P43H746K$SR
    Above $999 save $75 M3FMJZ4?G4V?WQ
They expired the 4th but maybe you can get lucky.

Also try signing up for the EPP email, they might have another offer for $50 off for this month.

My order hit boxing stage today according to the call in order status. Ordered on 2/23, but the estimated ship date is 3/23... hopefully it gets here faster than that.

@steelcurtain the coupons I was trying to use expired on 4th. The rep said they expired midnight. So he couldnt do anything with that coupon. Did you end up getting a cool deal as Redhidus?

That was pretty fast to get to the boxing stage. Hopefully mine gets to it fast too.

I got the M15x with the i7-720qm, 260m, 3gb 1333mhz, 250gb HD, and 1 year accidental warranty for $1600 shipped. I used a $50 coupon, 10% EPP, and got $75 off from the rep. She wouldn't budge for NBD though.

I jsut told her about all the troubles I've been having with the reps and their online chat ( i got my discounts through the online chat from her) and told her that if I don't get a good deal today then I'm not going to order from their company, but if I could then I'd order from her right away. Try to get your config to end up like $80 or so from the nearest 100th dollar. So like with tax and such it'd end up at $1680 , after coupons and such. Then tell her " If you can make that an even $1600 then I'll order right now from you". That worked for me, take up their time and suck up. They'll eventually work with you.

There is an offer on the table for an m15x shipped for just under $2000 with the above 4 items 'upgraded'...I can do without the upgraded wifi card, but the others I would prefer...

I like the extra screen real estate and the slightly longer battery life...the optical drive for that price is not the BluRay burner, just the BluRay reader...but if you're gonna have a BluRay resolution screen, I figured that you might as well have a BluRay player...(though I've always said that under 27", you really can't see the difference between HD and standard def...)

I'll probably let this quote go...Dell will have to do a little better and I don't have the stamina to spend hours on the phone with them...

What's the ratio of good calls/bad calls for people? I haven't called a rep before but will when I order my M11x because I don't want to buy their AV program.

I refused to call multiple times...

I did it the same way that I buy cars...do my research (and this thread was very helpful for seeing what type of prices people were getting) and then I gave Dell a bottom line price that I was willing to pay and very politely told them that it was non-negotiable...I also mentioned that wasting my time with incessant e-mails that got closer and closer would irritate me and they would lose the sale...

I don't do all the coupon stuff...I'll let the Dell rep figure that out...

But if Dell could offer an x% off on a laptop a couple of weeks ago then obviously Dell can sell it at that price point and make a profit...then and now...

Of course, it helped that I'm buying an m15x (to replace my m1710) and an m11x (toy...show-off...airlines)...

I got both decently spec'ed (no SSDs and the 720 processor on the m15x and 4GB of RAM for each) for just under $3000 which includes TN state sales tax of almost 10%...

Not the best deal on here, but it was one 10 minute chat session with a bottom line offer, and then four e-mail quotes (two per machine) later and we were there...besides the research, cost me about 30 minutes of my life...

This method won't get you the best deal because I feel that you have to come up with a fair price, but it saves me a lot of time and aggravation...and at this point in my life, time and quiet are sometimes more important than money...

$1150 after tax and shipping for the SU7300 (didn't need it but it was the base EPP configuration), 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, Bluetooth, and the Gobi antenna (and this was the feature that essentially sold me on the m11x so it was crucial to me)...

That's about $170 off the EPP final price...(and not counting the little extra for the DPA 3%)...

And you can do the math for the m15x...that's where the bulk of the savings came for me...almost $400 off for the m15x after the 10% EPP discount...

It seems it was not mentioned earlier..

Mostly the extension nums for the rep ll never get answered.(even if it gets anwered.. it might not be the same rep u were looking for)
Its always better to email the rep (probably.. early in the morning.. as after evenin u ll get automated replies)
When u ask for rep's details in this forum u better get the email ids and mail em..
and dont try to haggle on the mail.. they might never call u.
just briefly say u are doin so and so..and need a laptop asap.. and ask if he can call u at (so n so..time)

@dallow.. u sure tht bing works on alienware??
if any1 tried that and got it worked..please post here .

This wud definitely be an easy way to get a good discount if you use EPP and DPA. The total comes out to be 23% discount. Advantage wud be that you wont have to deal with the BS from the Sales rep.

Seems to work on everything else on the site from TVs to mouse pads.

I just don't think you can use it on the EPP site however.

I don't think it working on EPP tho.

You just search Dell, hit the link, it will send you to a page that says 10% cashback and you enter your email.

Then you pick your product, and purchase, it won't say Bing anywhere on the Dell site but if you were directed there from the Bing Cashback page, you're ok.

You'll get the Bing email within 2 days.

    I dont think so..
Even i bought it a week ago... and is in boxing stage in production..
To get that we should probably purchase on our own instead of going via dell rep in setting up the config.
Even if u could..only option ll be to cancel and start over again.. And i donno if the rep ll give the previous offer again.

I haven't tried so I can't confirm. And I guess the only way to confirm is for someone to actually order one and show the e-mail.

I placed an order for the non-EPP version (because it's a better value for my money DESPITE what every single sales rep will claim). I will post when I get the e-mail, or rant more if I don't. :D
