I'm trying to search for the explanation of the difference between for example, Dell 780M vs Clevo 780M or 680Ms.
I remember reading somewhere here before that the RAM in Dell Nvidia GPUs are made by Hynix and Clevo is using a different one. Which one is Clevo using?

Is this the only difference? Which RAM is usually better? Why is the Dell GPU usually more expensive than the Clevo equivalent?

    Samsung chips for clevo.

Supply and demand is usually the reason for price differences.

We are not exposed to the real prices of the card.

vRAM is the only difference, which may limit overclock-ability.

I take it, we mean to say Samsung is also the better option, even though Dell charges extra premiums for nothing but thier name.

What for the cards direct from them? That's mostly warranty coverage for the extra.

cards off eBay don't really have a warranty.

True, that's usually the reason why we charge a bit more.

Correct me if I'm wrong but it also protects the warranty of the system itself so long as there is no physical damage too.

ANd yet, Clevo is still the better way to go. Even considering price is not an issue.

That depends if you get a dud or not I suppose :p

From a quality standpoint I would say the alienware has better soldering IMO but it's pretty close.

Samsung vs hynix is a wash but the supplier could always change.

What do you mean? That is the price of a single GPU, not SLI. Same part number and same price for the Alienware 17, so it is far more expensive than a generic Clevo GPU.

The price shown in the search results list is not the actual selling price. You have to open the link in the listing to see availability and actual sell price, which is somewhat less but still severely overpriced. [ LINK]

You might be able to haggle with someone in sales to get the price whittled down to be comparable to a Clevo card from eBay, but I wouldn't hold my breath on that.

I mean imagine if it breaks and you have to buy a replacement.
