shut down the machine. remove all power source (battery and ac cord), keep pressed the power button for 15-20 seconds (allow it to use any power left in the machine). Put power source in battery and ac cord. now power on the machine... does it work ?

Uninstalling and reinstalling both the OSD drivers and the Alienware Command Center should "reset" the lights. Good luck.

This method doesn't work if you do it like that. For me what I do in those situations is:
    1. Shut down
    2. Remove battery and power plug
    3. Press power button for 15-20 secs
    4. Plug in only the power adapter
    5. Turn it on
    6. Hopefully the lights work now :) You can put the battery back in now.

To my understanding, the Command Center installs an update to the multimedia board as well, doesn't it? I don't quite remember exactly if it was the multimedia board it updates or if it was something else, but I definitely remember it updated something.

This worked many times unless you got corrupt driver stack. Before reinstalling lets try this

    1) First attempt
    - Boot into Integrated mode and see if you got it back. If not then reinstall OSD and CC while you are in integrated mode.

    2) Second attempt
    a. Shut down the machine completely
    b. Remove all power source, battery and AC power
    c. Keep the power button pressed for 15-25 seconds while there is no power source to squeez out any power left
    d. Put the AC power back in, do not plug in the battery yet and turn the system on
    e. Hopefully you have the lights back, now you can put the battery back.

what a pain... I would blame it to new BIOS I guess. I never had this issue with previous BIOS. and dunno if there is a way to fix it without reinstalling.

Do you use System Restore and can revert back to previous snapshot ? Just before you do that... take a fresh snapshot to come back to current state.
