I was planning on getting the 12 month interest free card from AW...
i'll be spending ~3000 on the m15x, so just wanted to check if this was a good option ??
No interest for a year, and at the end I could pay off the full amount.. anyone had any experience with that account ? Anything I should be concerned about ???

financing something that is really a waste interest free or not. i only support financing of stuff like cars or homes because not very many people have/or can save that kind of cash in a reasonable amount of time. why don't you save some money and wait for the m860tu. it is clevo's 15 incher with the 8800/9800m. and i'm sure it'll be cheaper than aw.

Yeah! I did finace my Alienware HD center and boy I regret it. Don't ever finance thur them/dell the interest will kill ya! If you can't pay it all in a year! Of course technology is faster and cheaper too in a year!

I want to finance but my credit apparently is not good enough...

Hi all
firstly are you in the states or europe?
i applied for finance in the uk through v12 Alienware finance.
i didnt need too as i had the cash spare but i thought cos of the 1 year 0% interest i could spread it out and pay it off within the year.
one small problem though.... i was turned down twice by AW v12 finance.
my story goes like this. i have never been overdrawn with my bank in 28 years. i have never owed any money to anyone and i have never owned a credit card. i always use debit cards as i know if i havnt got the money i cant spend it.
anyway i done a free credit check on myself and got a score of 860 out of 1000 which i thought was quite good.
i rang them up for an explanation as to why i was turned down.
to put it in a nutshell if you are always in debt and always skint they will welcome you with open arms and give you as much credit as you want because they know you will struggle to pay it off and they will make lots and lots of lovely interest off you.
my advice, if you can save up and pay it off in one go then do that as in the long run a computer worth £2000/$4000 will in the end cost you anything upto £3800/$7600 -
I got mine on financing 1 year no interest. I think its a pretty good deal just make SURE you pay it within that year but for me I tought it was a pretty good deal like mrdj said you can spread it out. JUST MAKE SURE YOU PAY IT within a year.

another way to rip you off? LOL

i think its us americans that are the most in debt. the average savings rate for us is less than 1% of our earnings. i think most americans have a negative savings rate.

I should see if my rents qualify for 1 year no interest...

Japan's public debt (i.e. government debt) is way greater on a relative basis than the public debt of the US (something like 180% of GDP vs. 60% of GDP respectively). It's the US consumer which is more heavily indebted
but we're getting off topic... -
I financed w/AW and paid half off in the year no interest. No big deal, intrerst rate is sky high. I did find it freakin stupid that the credit account I set up can only be used to purchase items in thier gear shop. I wanted to upgrade my video cards, but they wouldn't allow this purchase with the account I set up. Not my only negative encounter with AW

Americans are usually having a habit to unnecessary expenses. They do not believe in saving. So they are in debt. But Japanese too, it is odd.

Credit Card Debt -
Interestingly I believe any application for credit is based on your credit score. your credit score is actually based on how well you manage your debt.
If for example you NEVER have a loan, a credit card or never go overdrawn and dont have a mortgage you credit score will actually be lower than someone who has had loans etc.
Which is why some people struggle to get credit - this interestly enough is not how it is worked out for mortgages.
As for if AW finance is any good, well if you dont have the lump sum to start with then it is an option. I would also perhaps look at getting an interest free Credit Card, the APR is bound to be lower.
For anyone in the UK the Barclays Platinum Credit Card is the best card to transfer a balance onto, as the APR remains at 6.5% for the duration of the amount being paid off. The alternative is to shift it from one interest free card to another - assuming you cannot pay the full amount off in a year!
Credit is fine as long as you can pay it off in the right term, it only becomes a problem when you are dealing with the minimum monthly payments....
All depends on how patient you are....

Credit cards and financing for the matter was meant to be used as a way to spread out payments based on money you already had for a purchase. Originally, people would have the full ammount for a purchase and then use a credit card knowing the can pay monthly or the full ammount at any time.
While it is true today that many of us purchase using financing or a credit card without having enough money to pay off the purchase in full it is still a great option if you understand your finacial sisturation and the terms and conditions for the place you are applying to.
As for Alienware's financing the best thing to do is look over all the finance information found on our website and if you have additional questions you can contact our financing agents over the phone. -

Credit crunch hell they gave me 2000 dollars this is only my second credit card (the other is a 500 dollar visa) my system ran 2300 total I still owe 2000 on it (after buying it two weeks ago) I plan on paying another 500+ when the payment is due in a few weeks and then from there we'll see, sadly I didn't get the no interest so I want it paid off asap. Didn't quite have the cash though and I needed the machine asap.

I will never own another credit card. Why it another way someone can take your money. What I do is if I dont have the funds I see what I can buy and upgrade.
