Couldn't tell you which is better but they both seem pretty damn great to me, certainly among the best

not 100% but from what i have read is that AW utilizes LG in a vast majority of thier units.
i know there was another one they used, but can not recall the name.

    depends on viewpoint....(lol)
if memory serves (again...another topic but can not locate - lazy really :) ) there was a post about this and it was said they were similar, but that the AW was better when compared.
as far as apple and AW - dunno....i have seen mac screens and liked em - i think they have some that are LED backlit - and from what i have read, this helps with visuals and brighter colors and such.
it should be safe to say that AW screens should be better then the dells and such, but i can not tell as i do not have either one and i am not a guru in screens....

Apple have the best screens I've ever seen on a notebook. All of them are LED-backlit. LG makes the best panels for Dell, so you are getting a LCD that's a lot better than Dell's, unless you pay $200 more for the LED backlit screen, I'm sure that will be a bit better. If you're going just for the screen, Apple has the best.

The reason i ask this, is cuz i had a crappy samsung screen from my m1730, & now they gave me a LG LPL0032 lcd, but it still seems fuzzy or grainy on white background!

The screens on the m15x and the m17x are different. If you're going 15", Alienware will be better. If you're going for the 17", Dell is supposed to be around double the amount better.

again newb here but did you get a matte in place of a glossy?
are drivers for the screen up to date or even installed for the correct manufacturer (if this even comes into play).

Yeah it's all setup right, is it normal to look fuzzy or grainy on a white background, for example google?

Which notebook are you talking about? My monitor is a little "grainy" on white backgrounds, depending how I'm looking at it, but it's not as bad as other ones I've seen. So, it depends which panel and notebook you have, some of them
    are just like.

i have noticed the matte versions of screens tend to 'mute' (or in your case maybe - grain) the look of white.
i think the matte acts as a tint if you will to decrease the intensity of the colors.

    just a thought.

I think the m15x screen is better than Apple's. If I remember correctly Apple was sued by a few artists some time ago because their screens could not display 'Millions of colours' as advertised, only thousands.

Apple just uses LG screens as well so it cant be that much BETTER in my opinion although it is LED.

It all depends on the screen manufacture. For example, I've seen some crappy macbook screens which really don't look good at all.

My M9750 screen looks AMAZING and kills all of my friends computers / laptops in terms of quality. However, one thing that many people don't know on the M9750 is that the color accuracy is very poor but a calibration can help with that (costs money though :( ). Some screens might look worse but have better color accuracy and some may look better but have poor color accuracy.
