I just received my m15x about 2 weeks ago, it shipped earlier than estimated which was nice![]()
I followed most of the advice on the boards here concerning the RAM and Hard Drives but never saw anything for the cpu.
Money constraints limited me to just the T8300 but I was wondering if anyone knew if there were any compatibility issues for the motherboard if I went out and bought an oem Penryn x9000 cpu and installed it myself on the laptop.

don't get the x9000 it's not cost effective
get the t9500 instead

Replacing RAM and HDD does not void warranty from AW. Replacing CPUs, does void the warranty. You CAN'T do it yourself.
-
Plus the X9000 just overheats and downclocks anyways.
-
mm unfortunately yes, you would be well advised to steer clear of the X9000 for now

how about overclock your T8300? I ran mine at 2.9Ghz without paying $500

Holy crap what an amzing little tool. Had to rep that guy just for the work he must have put in.
Too bad my Dell has a 7200 and there is no way to adjust using it.. -
I've been having a look at the NP9262 from Sager... it allows you have a Intel® Core™ 2 Quad Processor Q6700 2.66GHz for not too much money... what about putting one into an M15x?? I am seriously concidering it.

I would go Sager. At least it won't over heat and downclock on you. Plus with that nice tool, from a few post back they are getting some really decent Over Clocks with it. At least your system will do you a bit longer. I have an Overclcoked M1710, and believe it or not it still hangs in there with most games with that slight OC.
