For me, (I own a m9750) I can easily get 2 hrs. of just internet and MS Office use in power saver mode (I am running Vista Ultimate). But if I have it in high performance mode and am gaming I really can only get 30 minutes to 45 minutes.
Also, the m17x battery life depends upon if you have a smart bay battery. This would mean that your laptop would have 24 lithium ion cells because you could replace your CD/DVD drive with another 12 cell battery. :D
Hope this helps! And your English isn't bad. I have seen native English speakers much worse than you. haha

You can expect about 2 hours for a regular 17 inch system, but the m17x might not make it that far with SLI 8800M GTXs.

if we're talking about the m17x, I'm pretty sure it doesn't feature the ability to hold smart bay batteries. AW realises (or, at least, thought) the road warriors would take the m15x, so they dropped support of the SB battery for the m17x.

i think the m17x can prob support smart bay... why wouldn't it... its prob just a 2wire connection from the smart bay drive to the main battery.

@Shoelace - That is probably why you have a longer battery life than I do, as I have SLi 7950GTX (which are pissing my off right now because no drivers I install are working now.) I think one of my GPU's is dead or something, but I'm going of to test a few more right now :(...

I'm 99% sure it doesn't. the m17x info pages never make mention of the SB battery, only of smart bay hard drives.

@GRB - If the smartbay technology is the same, then you could always buy a M15x smartbay battery and use it with the M17x (even though it would look ugly because of the different colors). In addition, a underpowered 6 cell battery probably wouldn't do much for the M17x seeing as it uses a 12 cell battery.

you would think stone but I really and truly think the m17x can't accept the battery (doesn't have the connector). All references to the m17x's smart bay never mention the battery option, and there is no option to order it.

yeh i agree theres nothing about SB baterries in M17x section. i was thinkin there wasnt avaiable for m15x too becuz of a thread i saw here in this forum about an england guy who said it, at least no longer avaiable for UK.

maybe they could give you 1 hour ???

nah, the 6 cell battery on the m15x gives you only 45 minutes. who knows how much lower it would be for the m17x, but maybe that's exactly why they don't sell it -- it's just not worth $100 for another 20-30 min.

He didn't saying WHILE gaming. Just in gaming MODE.

Just be careful because I honestly doubt you will get more than an hour out of that battery even just browsing the net and playing some tunes...

@Chekole - Haha I would love to see someone buy one then send it back immediately and show them that conversation as proof. Wonder who would win in a court case.

Me - "This representative said 2h30m on the smartbay battery"
AW - "Sorry for the confusion, AW prides themselves on high quality computers. However, you will have to pay a 15% restocking fee to return the laptop"
Judge - "Uh sorry AW. Your travelocity gnome DID say 2h30m while gaming with the smart bay :) "
