I've had my m9700 for about 18 months and the last few months it has had real heat issues. The screen has cracked, the AC adapter has melted, and the connection into the back has melted plastic around it.

Luckily I've had an extra power supply that hasn't melted. When I go to plug the new one in, it won't work! I jiggled it around until if finally the power light came on. I immediately backed everything up on the HDD and tried to contact AW.

Four unreplied emails later I have to call in and speak to "Tech Support" who immediately said it would be a repair. Since my warranty ran out in January the tech said it would be $320+shipping to have the lappy looked at. Wow, I still owe $600 on the freakin thing! After calmly explaining to him that this was a design issue(heat sink not dissipating heat correctly) he said there was nothing he could do. This guy just gave up on even trying, he was unwilling to speak to anyone else to even ask about my situation. After arguing with him for a few minutes I could see this was going nowhere. He tried pawning me off to Customer Service to try to 'see what they could to about the price'. I told him I would call another day to straighten this out.

So now I have a uber hot laptop that I think is going to melt the last power supply I have. The battery has been pointless(never had a charge over an hour since I owned it, now it holds no charge at all) and I'm still makin payments on this stupid thing.

Does anyone have any suggestions to what I could do to get this fixed with out having to pay for repair? I'm furious that I paid over $2k for this 18 months ago, and now I can barely use it.

Well that was absolutely pointless. A week later, no response. Either your having to deal with PM's all day from everyone else and you haven't got to mine or you've choose not to deal with me.

    Either way this situation blows!

i'm assuming you've blown out all the dust bunnies? you might open her up and see if there is stuff in the little metal vents of the heatsink sort of trapped up somewhere. and yes, sometimes the PMs are a bit pointless, but hey at least its an option that has worked for a few.

Dustbunnies have been anialated. I've kept the lappy completely clean, air dusting every month and never had any troubles until now.

I guess I'm gonna have to write AW's corporate headquarters and see how thier President, Vice President, a SVP of Marketing think of another unsatisfied customer.
