hello
im about to buy the m17. im going to buy a quad processor next year. right now though i am going to buy the 2.26 processor. however i know the 3870s perform well with a better cpu.
heres my question:
should i use 100 dollars to get the bigger 320gb harddrive or use the 100 dollars to upgrade to the temporary 2.4 b4 i upgrade next yr.
im leaning to the 320harddrive, but i wanted yalls opinion.
also when i use any computer for extended periods my eyes start to hurt. besides lowering the brightness of the screen is there glasses or anything else that can reduce eye strain?
thanks

The 3870's should do okay with the 2.26 but to really take advantage of them you should probably get the WUXGA screen.
I plan on getting a quad next year also =D
edit~
Also I chose the 7200 RPM 320 over the 5400 500GB version Pick up a second 320 7200rpm on newegg for 80-90 bucks and you're golden =D -
I suggest you not to get any upgrade now.
For less than 90$ USD, you can get 320 gb from other places. So, it's 160 + 320, instead of just 320. -
ok that sounds good.
but with the WXGA things will still look good i think, and ill get a little better performance bc the lower resolution.
but i am still contemplating it bc i will be using unreal editor and watching blurays -
Fusion, thats a good idea.
i think ill upgrade harddrive later too and just get WUXGA then. -
^it will need WUXGA to unleash 3870 x2-s

WUXGA + 3870x2 = Super happy fun time
Here's a good link comparing 8800 GT's in SLi to 3870's in CF:

The difference between the 2 is neglible, until AA is turned on then the ATi cards fall, but after years of that issue the 4xxx series finally fixed the AA issues.
The great thing about high resolution is you don't need to be so dependent on AA since higher resolution sorta smooths that out for ya (I forgot completely how to explain it) but I'm a big fan of Resolution > AA, so those 3870's are going to do a GREAT job in Crossfire. -
thats a helpful guide GT

Oh also buddy, you can get 4GB DDR3 SO-dimm at newegg for about 110 bucks, 90 less than Alienware, you can put that to A second 320GB Drive =D
