    The best processor Dell has for alienware m17x is this:

    Nieiaa - the days are gone where you can go by speeds alone... your truly comparing apples and oranges there.

    The architecture including cores, cache size, etc make even an i7 720QM romp an i3... trying to compare an i3 @ 2.40 Ghz to an i7 940XM @ 2.13 Ghz (not even considering the effects of turbo boost) is like comparing a Ford Focus to a Mustang GT turboed... even with casual use the GT will kill the Focus (no offense to Focus owners :D)

    No. It's probably 5 times faster when running on all cores and multitasking. Even on single threaded apps the 940xm will trounce an i3.
