I bought a 500gb WD HD to put in the second HD slot on my M17. I installed it, it shows up in the bios as well as my device manager in windows but it does not show up in My Computer. Am I able to use a second HD in this machine? If so what is keeping me from doing so? My first HD is a 160gb. I'm not looking to do any raid setup, I just want to have some additional storage. Thanks.

Most likely you need to reformat it first. Right-click on Computer -> Manage. Reformat the hard drive under Disk Management.

Try formatting it using Disk Management. Until it is formatted with one or partitions then Windows will not be able to assign it a drive letter (or letters).

Got it to work. Just had to find where they moved Disk Management in Vista. Got the disk initialized and then formated, works like a charm now. Thanks again.
