Advanced replacement warranty seems expensive, when I bought my $1200 Dell 640m 3.5 years ago it was $99 to add 3 years advanced warranty. I think it might have been regular $199 and was 50% off.
Right now a $999 M11x has $69 1 year advanced, $209 for 2 years advanced, $284 for 3 years advanced and $374 for 4 years advanced.
Seems expensive to me, is it worth it? I'm in Canada by the way. What exactly do they do. Repair or replace? Let's say the laptop is dropped and the screen breaks and the case breaks. What will happen?
I never had to use my warranty with my 640m.
Thanks

I would say it's worth it, you can get replacement parts shipped next business day and installed by a tech or you can do it yourself if you are tech savvy enough. Also they will replace your computer with a like or better one if your issue is not repairable, and it will cover accidental damage like drops, liquid spills etc. It is worth it IMO.

its always cheaper to buy upfront. It may seem like a big cost at first, but the peace of mind is worth it. They hella overcharge when you try to add warranty on later anyway.

If i remember corrently its WAY cheaper to buy upfront. I think one poster tried that and was told the price was like 900+ dollars

Buying warranty after purchase is another thing dell wrecked then? I remember Alienware offering me a special reduced price extended warranty about 2 months before my initial 12 month one ran out on my m9750!

Maybe I'll just get the one year advanced warranty. I don't really see it being worth $209 for 2 years. If I was buying anything longer than a year the 3 years seems like the best option but I doubt I'd have the laptop that long. Is the warranty transferable to a new owner if I decided to sell the laptop?
I should also add my credit card gives me an extra years warranty. -
$209 for an extra 2 years? that's an extra $9 a month. For peace of mind, it is most certainly worth it to me. But that's only my opinion.
and yes warranty is transferrable -

If you get the premium warranty, you don't have to deal with indian support.

Just be on the lookout in a month or two after your purchase. They will send you a letter with an offer to extend your warranty at a discounted price.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I ended up getting 10% off if I ordered with 3 years warranty. The system with no warranty was $1019. With 3 years advanced warranty it was $1172.70. So I paid $153.70 for 3 years advanced warranty. That I can live with. I was going to wait for the M11x refresh but this will suit me just fine. I'll end up selling it in 18 months or so with half the warranty remaining.
Advanced Replacement Warranty. Worth it?
