After a standby or a shutdown sometimes the display will not "wake up" / turn on.
Referring from other posts on the topic that I and several have written about; In the thread
Windows 10 + NVIDIA WHQL Drivers are Killing Alienware (and now maybe Clevo) LCD Panels ***

Now happens this nonsense with black screen often (nearly every day I have to start up pc 1-2 times extra to log into Windows 10). Is this a bug in Windows?
I've found that when I get black screen in the login screen in Windows 10 after boot, then I can enter my password without seeing what the screen displays. Then I come straight into Windows without problem. What is this weird behavior?

IMHO revert to 8.1 - this was a pain in the ass in preview and i don't see it changing.Mr. Fox likes this. -
That is really messed up. Have you tried reinstalling Windows 8.1 or Windows 7 to see if the problem goes away? Look at the scary information posted in the quote below. Running Windows 10 seems to be a bad idea for everyone.

it might be reading and detecting the GPU compatibility but then i am being way left field about it....though these days even left field can't be ignored.Maksym Karpov likes this. -
Edit: I've run a clean installation of this junk. But what help is in that? Same ****... If I had money to a Win 7 Pro or Ultimate license so I had bought now. But a full license cost over $ 230Last edited: Aug 31, 2015Mr. Fox likes this. -

. It tempts with Win 7 Pro or Ultimate but I have spent too much money now to legitimatize a purchase. + $ 230 is a lot of money now
. After a month with vacation for 4 overseas + fixing of automobile and purchase of dogs. Has spent over $ 20,000 already on this.

Indeed, a race to the sewers... in an unprecedented display of incompetence and contempt for customers. They are truly a legend in their own minds. I wonder how much personal data and private information they quietly harvested from the hard drives of Windows 10 "Insiders" that graciously donated their precious time to developing what may ultimately turn out to be the crappiest version of Windows in history? If not the crappiest, certainly the first-ever Windows operating system to corrupt firmware and render hardware unusable. There is a reason it's free, and it's not because they love you and want to give you something nice. Beware of Greeks bearing gifts, and geeks bearing gifs. When something seems too good to be true, that is because it is. When you make deals with the Devil, there's going to be Hell to pay. But, I bet we ain't seen nothing yet. Secrets sins have a way of working their way to the surface at the most inconvenient times imaginable.

@Papusan , did you try turning off the "Fast Start-Up" option in Windows? I know I mentioned it before, and you replied with a screenshot of the screen in your native language asking if this was the option for turning it off - I don't speak your language so I couldn't be sure which of the options was the "Fast Start-Up" option. Did you find that option in the end, did you turn it off, still problems?

Care to write that bios first?
Wouldn't be the first time uefi's nvram writes have corrupted a bios. Nvidia driver could do that, for instance.Mr. Fox likes this. -
I think that is a good idea @t456. There may be far more going on in the system BIOS/UEFI environment than any of us would like to believe possible. It would be really sweet to have proof to show the world of what manner of evil nonsense they are doing to us in secret, and when our backs are turned. I think there would be enough to get all of the enthusiasts extremely ticked off and belligerent.

1- Disable Hibernate
cmd (Admin)
Code:powercfg -h off
-> reboot
3- BIOS F2 -> Disable Fast Boot & Secure Boot.
Telemetry and other goodies fully disabled...slightly different OS, firewall rules IPs...it takes quite some time to properly configure M$ mess.Last edited: Sep 2, 2015ajc9988, Mr. Fox, Papusan and 1 other person like this. -

I had disabled all that trash in Win 10 (also Disable Hibernate / Disable Fast Boot & Secure Boot). I always do that on all my computers. Useless features... But even if I did everything right and deactivated all the garbage from Micro$oft, I still had the same problem with the screen turned black in the login screen after cold boot. But it was possible to enter the password without you saw nothing in the display and logged straight into the windows.
Everything work properly after removing the cancer WIN 10 . NO BLACK SCREEN ANYMORE...Last edited: Sep 3, 2015 -

I suspect the Insider Preview was designed to build a small army of Kool-Aid drinkers and set the hook in the jaw before introducing the WHQL malware. If I were a betting man, I would bet that their evil intentions were conceived in a dark office somewhere at the Redmond Gulag long before the launch of the Windows 10 Preview and they just waited until the 11th hour to set the trap in order to catch more of their victims off guard.

that doesn't mean don't strive and fight for security, but rather have no illusion about security! Remember how long nsa used heart bleed exploit, or their building "an exact replica of the internet" for "cyber terrorism training exercises!" They are working toward exascale processing to search the data collected. It is reminiscent of Hoover heading the fbi and knowing the dirt on everyone. Overall, I do need a security overhaul, but am unsure how effective it would be if someone wants it bad enough.
Also, did anyone think someone injected a rootkit onto Microsoft servers similar to what Lenovo sent out a year or two ago? If Microsoft says they didn't, how hard would it be to put in an image on their servers?
Edit: instead of thinking m$ is evil, which takes thought, maybe we should go with incompetent, which fits better with history!Mr. Fox likes this. -
Wile E. Coyote viewed himself as being a "super genius" (although his boundless incompetence was apparent to all). Remember how he got all of his gadgets and contraptions from ACME that never worked and always ended up blowing up in his face? Well, Micro$haft = ACME, and Windows 10 Kool-Aid drinkers = Wile E. Coyote.

I've got to say I'm quite happy with my Win 10 install, in terms of performance & interface. Thought I should mention this again in the interest of balance - keep hearing repeated bad things about Win 10 so only fair for me to state my views again; had lots of discussions with users on here about privacy concerns, etc with regard to Win 10, so don't need to have those again.
-
There's certainly nothing wrong with you mentioning that here, but this thread is all about the instability problems @Papusan was having with Windows 10 that he successfully resolved by upgrading to Windows 7. Privacy concerns aside, it's unfortunate that not everyone was able to have such a decent and stable experience with the new OS as you have. It would have been really nice if the decision which OS to use could have been limited to aesthetic preferences, and certainly reasonable to expect stability and functionality excellence at minimum. The plethora of problems reflect poorly on Micro$haft as a company and they are inexcusable after a year long Insider Preview practice session as a head start. If getting what you paid for applies here, I suppose that being free eliminates a solid basis for complaining that it didn't work out well for many... easy come, easy go. But, it's hard to not be bitter about hardware damage even though there was no extra charge for the LCD killing service.
It's crazy that we need to issue the same kind of cautionary warning/disclaimer for updating Windows as we would for overclocking, overvolting, modding, etc. Never thought I would see the day that using Micro$haft's latest operating system would be so hazardous. They used to be good at what they do and I used to admire them as a company, but I am pretty sad that I cannot say either of those things any more. -

Not paranoia, per se, that was always there. Only, it's technological possibilities that simply weren't available before. The difficulty is this; how to prevent tools from being used? -
