The price difference is worth it if you're going to be using the lappy mainly for gaming or graphic intensive related work.

If you plan on playing graphically intensive games and/or applications then the M15x for sure. If not, then the Studio XPS.

Don't kid yourself regarding how important gaming is - people tell themselves they can live with medium settings and low resolution until they try it. Even the 260m is going to have compromises. I would get the Alienware if gaming is at all important to you - it should be 50% faster than the XPS in games.

This will give you a very rough idea of the XPS perfromance in games:

I ordered the Studio XPS 16 back when they announced i7 support. Got the machine in December and had a lot of issues with it.. problems with screen corruption, both the keyboard backlight and the Bluray drive were both DOA. Build quality was not very impressive eg the battery didn't fit properly. Thermal management not good either.. palm rest got very warm and the fan was iritating. Ended up sending it back and getting a refund. Since then I've been borrowing a M15x. This is a much nicer machine despite the fact that you can't get the same RGBLED screen. Better build quality, vastly better thermal management. Bottom line I'll be ordering one of these on Jan 7th once the CES announcements are out and would recommend it over the Dell based on my personal experiences.
