I already checked on the settings and it is set to be on while connected and while disconected as well. For some reaosn if I disconect the laptop from the wall and shut it down then on again. the lights dont turn on.

    Any idea why this happens?

Is it all of your lights, or only your keyboard lights that don't turn on?

..also, are you using the Alienware Command Center from MyHive (old version) or the version that has AlienSense and AlienTouch?

What version of the Alienware Command Center are you using?

Are you using the one from MyHive (the one without AlienSense and AlienTouch) or the newer one (that has AlienSense and AlienTouch?)

Sometimes this happens to me also. When I go mobile, if I restart, sometimes the BIOS fails to load the Alienlights. I'm also on the older command center with the newest .NET framework SP1.

This used to happen to me too, but since updating to the new Command Center I haven't had it happen.

Try installing the more recent version of the Alienware Command Center. You can download it directly from here. Make sure you have .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 prior to installing it.

If you experience any problems with this version of the Command Center, refer to findvikas' thread on problems and solutions for the Command Center.

    Nahhhh it's not that complex...

    a. Shut down the machine completely
    b. Remove all power source, battery and AC power
    c. Keep the power button pressed for 15-25 seconds while there is no power source to squeez out any power left
    d. Put the AC power back in, do not plug in the battery yet and turn the system on
    e. Hopefully you have the lights back, now you can put the battery back.

If that does not work then do this...
Switch the Graphics Card from external to Internal. Use BinaryGFX to switch the cards and once done you should be able to see the colors back to life.

It seems to be working now but sometimes it doesnt. Its weird. I have a dual boot with vista 32 bit and 64 bit and I have the newest version of command center (at least the newest avialable from my hive) in the 32bit instalation while I have the one you provided in your guide for the 64 bit instalation.

My simple remedy for this is simply activating Binary GFX.

As vikas stated switching usually restores the lights back with no problem ;)

Just bumping this thread again in case anyone got into the same problem as me or has a fix.

For some reason whenever I turn my computer on (m15x) without the energy cord pluged into the wall, the lights never turn on. even if I switch to binary FX which was a fix someone told me here, it still doesnt work. I have to turn the machine off, connect it to the wall then turn it on again and then disconect it.

Hey I just got my system back from repairs for a broken hinge and have the exact same problem... I am wondering if this is a motherboard issue or something...
