    Hello,

    New M15X
    1Gig RAM (stock)
    160 Gig HD
    8700 GT Video
    2.4 Core 2

I upgraded the RAM to 4 gigs of 200 pin Dual Channel OCZ 667 DDR2 memory. 2x 2 Gig sticks.

Under Control Panel....System.... Vista Home 32 bit only says 1 gig RAM. When I load bios it also says 1 gig RAM. I went to soemwhere in the Control Panel...forgot where...and made sure that box that maxes memory at 1 gig was not checked.

I think it only sees 1 GIG Ram? Also, I was hoping this vid card would play some games...especially at the price of this lappy. With al lsettings on low, Im only getting 15-20 FPS on COD4?

Any help on the RAM or what I should be getting on the Vids would be appreciated.

    Thanks

use MemTest to check the RAM for errors, and run 3dmark06 (keep HWMonitor running in the background for temps) to determine your system's potential.

8700... it shouldn't perform so poorly. Something else is interfering your game. Make sure your vista has the latest sp1 and the driver is cleaned before install. But I suggest you check the RAM too, you might got a faulty ram.

if it's a faulty RAM chip, I'd be surprised it hasn't crashed the computer... rather than just being non-existant...

could try reseating the RAM... probably help. also, check which RAM banks are in use, if it's 0, 1, then that's the first RAM slot, 2, 3, then the second (two banks per slot)...

I'm not sure if the upper or lower slot is bank 01 or 23, but hey, it could point you in the right direction...
