Do I need to have it running in the startup to keep the keyboard lights off? I'm trying to keep the lights off but everytime I start my lappy, the lights come back on! I don't know how it really works :(

Well, some of us don't know any info, such as me who is an M17 owner.

I'd suggest that if you want help you stop making sarcastic comments about people not helping you.

If you "go dark" when you are logged in and turn the lights off, when you restart the lights will come on for the start up but when you log in, they will turn off. Not sure how to turn them off ALL the time.

    Create a black theme ;)
Then when you want, just switch themes.

Use search and you will find a thread about self build alien fx software. Maybe there is one that can help you because now when you create a black theme you cannot put blacl as the alienhead color and maybe the self build software software can change that or you can ask the guy to make it for you.

If you want everything turned off and have it persist, load this theme. When you shut down, the active theme is saved to the AlienFX board and loaded when the system is powered on.

This 'ALL DARK' theme has everything turned off. Now, to answer your question regarding having it running - you can disable the AlienFXController which is loaded @ startup. If you do this and want all the lights off, then be sure to load this theme.

As an alternative, you can leave AlienFX running and upon boot up, select 'GO DARK' either by right clicking on the AlienHead in the tasktray or using the FN+F11 shortcut. If you want EVERYTHING to be switched off using the 'Go Dark/FN-F11' process, uncheck the 'Keep Status Zones on during Go Dark' by right clicking on the AlienHead in the tasktray.

All i want is to disable the powercord lighting since there is no way of changing the color, it only matches the theme if the color is blue.

You cant disable the light on the power cord. Could color it in with a black sharpie marker though ;)

As for the theme, I just created the theme and then used notepad++ to edit the source code - specifically, the colors. You can use the regular notepad, I just prefer notepad++ for source code work (Old school I guess...)

Hahaha funny....in any case I would not want too - having gone through a bad power brick already, I'd like to know if my brick is still functioning without having to turn on my machine....

in the M17 all you have to do is to press FN+F10. It's an hardware thing. you don't even need to boot a OS to change the colour or to disable the backlight.

^That's right but I wanted the lights to stay off even when I restart the laptop. Just didn't want to deal with hitting the FN+F10 combination every time I reboot :)
