    hi everyone,

I am a same problem than Spanier84 in this thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=437170

i have recently reinstalled Windows 7 pro edition .then i have installed command center , and at this moment of the Firmware upgrade, it's happened nothing : the install program says that the current version of the driver is 0.0 and the updated version is 0.0

Thus my Alienware has no lights (Keyboard, touchpad, alienhead, etc.)

I tried to install an previous version of command center but with no success

The command center didn't work, and i started the alienfx tester but it didn't detect my card , and it was impossible to uprade the firmware

Does anyone know how to fix it?

    thanks for you reply

    My configuration:
    Alienware M15X / I7 720Qm / 4096 DDR3-1066 / HD 500 GB / GTX 260M / 1600x900 / DVD / 6-Cell /

Just give dell a ring. Its always the best thing to do.

Of course, try the options in the other thread.

It is because program for firmware upgrade is changing FX board BIOS. You had already this installed, so it is recognizing that current BIOS matches with this version you're trying to install, and indicates "no change"="changing version 0.0 to the updated version 0.0". And at this point something is going wrong with further installation process.

From my experience, not working FX lights are Windows-related problem, not hardware. I wrote few words about it here : http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=6016220&postcount=150

Seems Command Center installer is not doing his job correctly. I'm pretty sure your previous installation of W7 would work.
Anyway, I experienced problems with genuine M$ W7 installation on the Alienware and brand-specific programs (Command-Center, OSD-software etc) while genuine Alienware (no matter DVD or recovery-partition) installations are trouble-free.

Unfortunately I can't help much. Please tell us which CC version you're trying to install.

    You can try:

    1. Uninstall current Command Center
    2. Reboot into Safe Mode. Run CCleaner Registry and fix any found issues
    3. Reboot and install the previous version of Command Center. This will attempt to reflash the AlienFX BIOS to the older version. Wait until it completes - even if there is no activity, wait. Once the complete dialog box is displayed, reboot.
    4. Once back at the desktop, install the current version for the M15x.

If this does not correct it, contact Dell Support and have them troubleshoot.
