Greetings fellow AW owners... I was looking over a couple of the older theme files recently and came across DSlade's amazing red vs. green theme which he created using an older version of Command Center. Unfortunately, this older theme is not compatible with current versions of CC. Editing the theme file either via the tempo feature or by direct editing of the XML code no longer produces this rate of morphing. As I recall, there was a great deal of interest in a more streamlined/easier to customize GUI for Advanced Themes - specifically, having the ability to easily setup morphing.

Take a look at DSlade's theme and see if this is something you would like to have on your system. Given we have Alienware folks creeping around the forum, perhaps they may take a closer look at this if we have enough NBR owners expressing a desire to replicate this type of morphing.

Here is DSlade's youtube video where he pulled off one of the coolest themes I have come across (kudos DSlade - you need to post more buddy):

    <param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube-nocookie.com/v/tkful1axRC0&hl=en_US&fs=1&rel=0&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x999999&border=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube-nocookie.com/v/tkful1axRC0&hl=en_US&fs=1&rel=0&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x999999&border=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width='660' height="405"></embed></object>

So, lets see some numbers... vote away.

I like the ones where the right speaker is different from the left one. Im not really into the morphing themes but a little more variety wouldnt hurt.

Also the winamp plug-in thing is something alienware shouldve done a long time ago. Its got so much potential to do a variety of things, i love alien fx.

What would be really nice is if you could make the WASD keys a different color from the rest for gaming. If there is I haven't figured it out yet .

That's a really neat idea on the WSAD Keys being a different color, I hope someone can figure it out or maybe Alienware will release a new update Lol

If we're @ it - every key should be independently customisable! :)

Agreed on the additional customization options however my main goal with this thread is to generate a show of numbers either for or against the ability to produce the same morphing rate as shown in the video. I recall at the time DSlade posted the theme there was a large amount of support for this. Following the release of the next CC (remember, this was last year), the rate of morphing was changed and this rate was no longer available.

I have attempted to reproduce his rate via the tempo control as well as editing the XML directly and have not been able to reproduce it under the recent CC releases.

Is this something people are still interested in?

So this new cc will not let you even have the touch pad or the alien head power button on a morph.

I remember Dslade saying the fast speed rate only worked when you used 2 or 3 colors max. If you went over a certain amount of colors the speed would slow down to the default.

^ this is correct. btw you can edit all alien fx on the m11x m15x as well! I messed around with a m11x at best buy to see if it works, it dose! But the fast morphing is broken. I am still on the older cc because of the faster themes.

Thanks BatBoy for starting this thread!

All I can think of is "Why not have faster morphing capabilities?"

I'd venture to hypothesize that this fast morphing capability was removed to reduce constant demand on the light controller chip and the LEDs themselves, to say nothing of battery life improvement.

To compromise between practicality and ego/light art, perhaps fast morphing could be enabled or disabled in AlienFX. Whenever a user enables fast morphing, they could be presented with a "waiver" dialog box stating that this capability may have consequences for their system if used for extended periods and some kind of warranty exemption legalese.

I will admit, I am highly jealous of the old Command Center users - I would KILL for a fast paced theme like that. Great for a feeling of epicness or parties.

Ok, so I have understood that the old CC provided for far more flexibility than the new one however, I downloaded some of the themes proposed by DSlade and they work on my R2. Surely this means that one can open the themes in notepad and edit the text. I know I can do that because I have tried but I
have no idea what to edit and what with?

My goal is to make Alienhead logo, on/off button, and touchpad surround morph. Also, to separate the speaker vents so that each one can accomodate its own actions. Anyone have any ideas please?

Oh yeah, and BatBoy, I agree wholeheartedly with your proposition that we need fast morphing capability. DSlade's fast morphs were amazing but with the latest CC they are really slow and no longer have the punch nor fluidity they had previously.
