I know this is for LapTops but I am desperate. I need help with my Lighting software. I have an Alienware Case & Light Board but the rest of the computer I built. I cant load Command Center because it only works on Alienware computers and the AlienFX 1.03 & 1.5 software will not run with Vista 64. Does any body know of any fixes for the AlienFX software or how to load Command Center on a non Alienware computer?
Thanks for looking!!!!

i think the CC looks for certain BIOSes loaded only onto AW systems. so unless you're using the same mobo as AW and can flash the AW BIOS, i don't think it'll work.
-
Since Color Wheel works for you on few parts we can have a new Color Wheel that can support all the colors... let me ping you in a while to get more details
-
That would be awesome I can send you anything you might need.

Ohhh by the way it seem you do not have a Command Center for Desktop. I found it somewhere on Internet and tried to installed it on my desktop. It installed fine and gives you all the options to control all the colors. Try it out and if that does not work then create a new theme which should probably fix it.

Best of luck! -
Your awesome the only problem I have loading command center is that my computer is not Alienware Brand so it will not load must be something in the bios.
-
Have you tried it already, I also do not have AW desktop but it install fine on my machine. Since you have the AW case & Light board it may detect it anyways. If not then I could make temporary changes in Color Wheel to support Desktops. But I really need to give it a new look and feel to become AuroraLightsFX
-
I am downloading right now to try I will let you know shortly.
-
One other thing is that I am running Vista 64 Bit
-
now that could be a problem.... download the patched files from my guide and hopefully they will load fine in this desktop version. Make sure you keep a backup of files before you replace any.
HOWTO: Install Command Center Patch (OLD COMMAND CENTER, IF YOU WANT TO SWITCH TO PREVIOUS VERSION)
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
1) Download the Command Center Patch here
2) Extract the files to a temporary location
3) double click the registry file, Predator2.reg - hopefully this is for ALX desktops
4) Install Command Center for desktop
5) Copy the following file (make sure you COPY it and do not CUT it, this file is required in both directories)
C:\Windows\System32\alienfusionapi.dll TO C:\windows\SysWOW64\alienfusionapi.dll
6) Copy and replace following existing files to the following folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Alienware\Command Center
a) AlienFusionController.exe
b) AlienwareAlienFXController.exe
c) AlienwareAlienFXEditor.exe
d) AlienwareAlienFXTester.exe
e) AlienwareAlienFXTools.dll -
I have tried to download that file twice now and it stops at 99% and than my computer starts to run slow. Any ideas
-

Is there an alternate sight for the first one that I have been trying to download I have tried 3 times now and it stops at 99%.
-
-
The patch downloaded no problem. Its the main big file I am having problems with. I am trying from a different computer right now.
THANKS -
mailed you the direct link.
-
I am downloading right now and you said earlier that it loaded on your computer even though it was not an Alienware computer?
-
-
Same thing there has to be a way to install this on a non Alienware computer. I get an error message stating I quote "The program did not install successfully. This program can only be installed in an Alienware Computer." How did you do it? I even formatted my hard drive and reinstalled Vista 64 so there was nothing else on my system. I wonder how you get around that error?
I really want to thank you for your time so far I owe you big time.
Thanks
Jeff -
Let me get back to you on this tomorrow. I need some serious sleep now
-
Thanks for everything. Have a good night sleep!!!
-
I tried loading command center on my other computer which is running XP 32 bit and it installed no problem. It must be something with Vista 64
-
Jeff,
Please try this new temporary version of ColorWheel.. added feature for desktop. You or someone who has AW desktop can confirm if it works. You do not need to have Command Center installed for this to work.

Do let me know the results and tell me what all colors work for you. Try them one by one... -
I will try it right now back to you shortly. The last color wheel worked when I first built my computer but after the firmware was updated in the light board it did not work. I will let you know shortly though.
-
Is this a stand alone version because I got an error.

I think its working now except on my system its not because of the firmware change I think. When I first downloaded the stand alone version of color wheel it worked except it would not light all the lights. Than I loaded alienFX 1.03 software and it changed the firmware on the light board and than color wheel would not work at all and now AuroraFX is doing the same thing I think.
-
If I could get Command Center to load it would update the firmware and than it probably would work.
-
Ok wait a minute... lets identify the file BIOS version first. give me a minute
-
No problem take your time. I can also send you the 2 older versions if you want of AlienFX 1.03 & AlienFX 1.5
-
no thats not required at this point...
download this file and extract somewhere..
http://rapidshare.com/files/180589702/AlienFXBiosUpgrade.rar
run the AlienwareAlienFXTester.exe and it should show you the current BIOS version... and the "Upgrading to" BIOS version (2.00.04).
If it does not upgrade it automatically then run the UpgradeBios.bat file to forcefully upgrade it -
do not overwrite these files to previous location, they are little different files
-
It doesnt seem to be working the tester pops up and says board not detected firmware update skipped. I than tried the manual one and a dos window comes up stating command and stops running there. Also the tester
does not state current version because board not detected. What a pain in the I am. I think I need to load dual operating systems just to run Command Center. I am not sure if there is some usb utility to detect the board. -
I had AlienFX running one time it was version 1.03 running on Framework.Net 1.1 I think
-
I wonder if Tester.exe is not able to detect then... hmm.. let me see if I could help you any further with this.
-
give me that version
-
The firmware on the light board or AlienFX is version 1.03 and I will try to find firmware version.
-
I am trying to find it in the software I know it was run on .netframewok 1.1
-
It says MDAC version 2.71 does that mean anything?
-
nope
.....
-
What would the file extension be for a firmware file?
-
usually .ROM like ... FW3410_00020004.ROM
-
I think this is the version FW3410_001.ROM
-
Just to let you know I was up late and loaded Windows XP and was able to get everything to work. I also tried your AuroraFX and it worked all my lights came on and was able to change each individual LED. You are one good person and I really appreciate all your help and your AuroraFX Works Great.
Thanks
Jeff

-
I did not check each thread individually but I do know that all lights were on I tried one solid color and also the rabdom choice. Seemed to work good. Thanks again for all the help.
