    Hello

I have made an AlienFX theme that I thought I'd share (for 2013 Alienware models)
This one has a little bit of a twist in that the touchpad LED does a full rainbow colour morph - normally in command centre the touchpad LED can only be set to a single solid colour, but with a little .atf editing that's now changed :)

Also the tempo has been set at a rate faster than is possible to be set in command centre - so transitions are quicker and therefore look more smooth.

    This theme does the following

    - Touchpad - full rainbow morph
    - Left/right tron lights - full rainbow morph
    - ALIENWARE text - full rainbow morph
    - Alienhead+diagonal tron lights - full rainbow morph
    - All keyboard- full rainbow morph

I have set the touchpad LED to 'ON' in this BIOS - this keeps the touchpad LED on at all times and disables the inactivity timer. I have also tested it with the inactivity timer on ("AUTO" in the BIOS) and it still works fine and remains in sync with the rest of the lighting zones when activated again.

    Enjoy

    EDIT
Although my theme was originally built only for the Alienware 18 (2013), elSeledonio has kindly modified it to work on the Alienware 14 (2013) & Alienware 17 (2013).

Nope, but you can just download it, open it in command centre and preview it, or you can just apply it. It's a very small file lol

You have to extract the zip file first then open the extracted
    .atf file in CC

Also this is only for the 2013 models

Nice looking theme prank1! Just tried it on my new Alienware 18!

I am trying to make a theme where each zone cycles through ALL the colours in a sequence (from one colour to the next for each of the 17 colour segments) and then obviously repeat the sequence.

How do you change the tempo in the file? And what would the best way of achieving the above be?

    Thanks!

The command centre has a limit on how many colours you can have in total. To have each zone with the 17 colour segments would be impossible.
However via .ath editing you can add as many colours as you want without restriction.

So I actually tried doing just that; having each zone cycle through ALL the colours would make for a smoother looking transition.
Unfortunately it messes up the AlienFX; although the theme can be loaded and applied just fine, you notice things like zones flashing during transitions, some zones being completely disabled, and some simply not changing colour. It seems that the limit set in command centre is actually there for a reason, trying to 'force' past it creates problems that I don't think we can bypass. Maybe something to do with not enough memory on the AlienFX controller, I don't know.

If you are curious I have attached the theme that I made with each zone morphing through all 17 colours. Try applying it and you will notice that the AlienFX doesn't play nice! (It doesn't break your AlienFX, if you change the theme back to a normal one it works all fine again)

View attachment Full Cycle - Prank1.zip

With regards to the tempo, when editing the .ath file search for 'tempo' and change the value to '0' which is the fastest. The smaller the number the faster.
Command centre can only go upto 100 for its fastest setting, but again editing the .ath manually will allow you to go even faster.

Instead of using all 17 could you just setup for example 4 Morphs for each zone (as the morph sort of blends between the colours anyway. For example a morph from pink to purple, then purple to turquoise, then turquoise to yellow and finally yellow to red?

    Would this work?

Sure you could, but it wouldn't be as smooth as having it cycle through all the colours.

My theme in the first post does what you have suggested, whilst not exceeding the limit

When I use your theme it only cycles through blues -> purple -> pink -> red, no greens or yellows?

    Is it just me?

That's really weird! I have the same laptop as you but for me your theme in the first post only goes blue, purple, pink, red!

In the advanced mode editor, it just shows a single morph in each zone going from blue to red?!

EDIT: AAAAAH now it's got it. Don't know what happened before, maybe I saved over the original one I downloaded or something like that.
It's a shame the tempo can't be upped further because it is quite slow to change colours, but a great theme all the same!

Finally got to try this theme. Very nice to see all the colors...I had the same problem where I had to reload it since it seems to replace this rainbow theme with something else you are using if when it loads for some reason. I see all colors.

I couldn't come across a site dedicated solely to Alienware FX Themes; so I started making one.

Thoughts? Contribute? Or point me to a site that already exists for this.

Alienware FX Themes » Collection of Alienware FX Themes

Obviously a long way to go and many models to cover, but wanted to pulse check to see if it was a waste of time.

I like the idea! I have not seen another website for this, although, it would be something I'd expect to exist, perhaps even from Alienware themselves. But, I suppose not.

My recommendation: Because it is pretty easy to work with AlienFX, people may not find the more basic themes useful, but fortunately for you, it is easy to learn how to master AlienFX and this will allow you to do a lot more with AlienFX, beyond the traditional multicolor theme (i.e. pulsing, fading, etc.).

I agree. I will keep collecting and posting themes. Since I only have an M14x it's going to be hard to accumulate screenshots and test other models as I don't believe they will load on mine. Haven't tried though, not sure if they are specific to model, I am assuming they are.

Then perhaps it would be a good idea to allow users to post their own themes on your website? You will be limited with only the M14x, as you mentioned.

Let's make it a ... community effort, per say? ;)

I have been thinking about the best way to accomplish this so as to post. I was thinking in the interim to set up an email and have people email in the theme and a screenshot like taken on the site already and zip them up.

Hey brother, here are a few I was able to emulate on my 18 from the site. Critical Infected 1 and 2, Lava Red, and AlienScanner. The new models do not have white as an option so I was not able to recreate the Ice themes which I also liked. These are what I have so far.

Edit: Whoops. Seems like the forums won't let me upload .rar or .ath files.

Here are the AlienFx themes for the 14 and 17 version. I am using an Alienware 14, so I need someone to test the theme for the 17... :) View attachment Prank1 Rainbow Theme All Models.zip

I opened the theme in Notepad and changed this:
    < DeviceID >1< /DeviceID >
    < Description >Alienware 14 Chassis< /Description >
    < DeviceTypeID >1< /DeviceTypeID >
    < PID >0525< /PID >
    < Model >Alienware14< /Model >

for the PID, the 18 is 0523, the 14 is 0525 and I think that the 17 is 0524

    Ty you for great theme.

I also wonder if you can make a white version? All white. I think light blue + light pink is close to white.

Is it possible to make the white color without the pulsing/chaning color?

    Hi
I did this awhile back for the Alienware 18 (2013). You can use any colour you like for the AlienFX if you manually edit the .ath file, so this one attached has been set to white.
