Just got an email from Alienware Research tellingme that they wanted some feedback on AlienFX. Possibly, if we synchronize our replys we can set a trend and push for the changes we really want.

What I said is that it would be great with more features but focus on the fundamentals first like 64 bit support and speed of the app. Right now my command centeris painfully slow to start.

What do you guys think should be their focus for a new release?

I'm in the same situation, my m17x's Command Centre loads really slowly, more colours would be nice, the option of being able to choose your colours from a wheel etc would make the "experience better".

I'm still waiting for the API or some other way to control the light speed, color, etc based on gaming/software environment.

They claimed, back in the day (it was in the first video series), that the lights would synch with the game you are playing, meaning that if you get hit in a game the keyboard would flash red..that would be some cool stuff right there!!!

I've asked the question a few times now, all with no reply =-(

I am not sure about AW but I am listening to those feedback :) I know the problem with slow loading... the reason behind is 'fancy' looking application. AW has used .Net 3.5 + WPF (Windows Presentation Framework) (EDIT: But they are not expert in making fast applications in WPF, .net can perform much faster if only they know what they are doing)

So in short they have used wrappers over wrappers over wrapper to make that fancy UI. I am working on a Simple Application with a Choose any color... like you said Color Wheel. The reason is I have a full time job and only time I can get to work on this is just 5-8 hours a week.

    Cool, thanks mate,

I know you're the expert at this kind of thind, i've read about your 64 bit conversion for the Command Centre and additional colours etc.

I look forward to being the first m17x to try out the "improved" command centre (",)

If you want me to test anything, let me know?

Can't belive I didn't remember the syncing with games feature when I answered the survey. Now that would be a killer feature. Mybe they should just hire findvikas and give him the whole source code ;-)

I'm thinking that he's re-written moret than AW have in the first place and made it better in doing so (",)

    Flashing Red = Hit/Damage
    Flashing Blue = Low Magic/Mana (RPG's etc.)
Flashing Yellow = Low Ammo on whatever weapon your using
    Flashing Green = Low health

These could be useful, simple list but if it couls work it would be great (",)

I second findvikas for Command Centre expert...

This would kick too much ***. There's also plenty of other creative things that can be done with the lighting!

I'd like to control individual lights per key. Also the ability to change the lights when the key is pressed as well.

Maybe have parameters that scroll through different colors? Like maybe blue when it's cold at a certain temperature then red at hotter temperatures?

I was just thinking that the lights could be used for warnings...

Music sync would be good but, I agree that the best think would be the ability to change each key's colour for gaming... That would be great (",)

It'd be great for FPS games. Hell, if you're about to die, it should flash red indicating you're about to die. It's a neat concept, but I'm not too sure how they'll be able to do that with individual games though.

Yeah, I think some kind of "on key press" it fades another colour, and then fades back to the original colour (just the single key though). IS it possible?

I guess it depends on the actual location of the LED's and if they can be isolated via software. I've got a sneeky suspicion that they are arranged in a "sheet" so the colour-per key option won't work as they all come on together... guess we'll wait and see (",)

I told them they should setup a easier reinstall with out the stupid 2 to 3 patches. Mybe a full redo on the command center.

Other things I would like to be able to dim lights at night time keyboard with no Outside lighting on. Like they do with the Monitor screen lighting. When I am in a area that dark I can drop the lighting to 35% vs to 100%. Which helps on the eyes and brightness.

Basicly have a low lighting on the keyboard that user friendly at night while not taken to be over bright. agenst the Monitor. But give the user low lighting on the keyboard that we can read the keys and numbers. Basicly this is for people who look at the keyboard and use two fingers to type.

For people like me I dont look at the keyboard I look at the screen. My spelling bad but that me. Other then I sound like a machine gun while typing.

Cheers... first release of Light Weight AlienFX Editor released with very limited functionality.

Hope you will like it.. people were asking me about a light weight AlienFX Controller... how about something like this ???

:) I know you want to try it.. and it works great! Does not matter if you are on 32bit or 64bit it works great. All you need to do is patch your Command Center to allow custom application development, read my guide once again if you are not sure how to patch CC

Way cool findvikas. I'm gonna have to try this as soon as I get home. Black(off) or pure white doesn't seem to be options here though, any chance you could improve on that color wheel.

Ding.... and its updated. Advanced coloring support to mix your own color. See main post for latest screenshots. More to come in future... morphing and pulse support. Power/Battery mode colors... later I will add support so that it will monitor the registry for new color values and change the colors accordingly.

This is very useful for games and other applications which want to control AlienFX but does not want to go into the details of handling it. They can just change the registry values and my application will update the color.
