I am analyzing why and where is this application leaking memory, but this is for sure that it can reach very easily upto 1gb. If you have your system up and running for more than 4-5 hours then please check your taskmgr and tell me what is the current size of working set (memory) along with Windows Version (32/64bit)
Stay tuned![]()

it's at 15mb right now for me (Vista HP 32bit). does it matter if i'm actually doing something, or does the computer just have to be running?
-
my system is running for 6hrs ,the AlienFusionController.exe is taking 17,765kb
-
Hmm... is it just me??? I am running 1.0.23.0 version of it. Within an hour it reached over 350MB
-
I'm using 1.0.23.0, and it's taking 10,888KB. System uptime: 12:49:30 (ish)
Vista 64-bit

Then it must be something else interfering with it. Just reached 1.7gb in last 3 hours
-
ouch. mine's still at 16mb after almost 4 hours.
-
Ok, I'll let you know in 4 hours. how mine is coming along.
-
mine is only at 1,424k running for ~7 hours with Face Login Mode enabled.
How come you all have a *32 next to some processes and I don't? lolAttached Files:

i think vikas added that when modding the CC for 64bit...
-
still at 16mb after over five hours.

-
THis is what I got about an hour an half later. Seems like for me the OSD utility is the one leaking. AW FX controller is at 20,000Kb.

So it's leaking with 32bit Vista as well, you are on 32bit Right ?
-
I've been running my system for ~7 hours and mine is at 2,316k
-
nothing bleeding here. all processes under 40mb.
-
-
Findvikas, can you check if it still leaks after reinstalling the Alienware Command Center?
-
I do not want to fix it yet, as I want to debug it by attaching the process to WinDBG. I was concerned if it was related only to x64 but a leak of OSDManager tells a different story.
I will try to uncover it by going deep in the stacks & heap. -
Just checked and now the OSDManager.exe process has gone up to 300 MB Memory (Private Working Set). AlienFX at 20 MB.
-
let it run... i wonder how high it'll go...
-
Can you do me a favor and take a memory dump for me using DebugDiag
You can IM me if you need any help in setting up the debugger. -
Okay, I've attached the files here. Let me know if it helps any. I hope that I did it right.

all right. Hold on. It's gonna take a while since the file is almost 600MB!

Ok, Vikas, here is the link

Same problem Win7, 32bit. Reached a max of 1.6gb. And as a result svchost starts using alot of cpu, 70-80 percent!
-
I haven't had any bleeding in Vista 64 bit, however in Windows 7 64 bit, I have had that problem, it hit about 2 GBs.
-
Folks same problem here. At first, I thought I was hallucinating with this process taking up 1.7 GB of my RAM!!! I am running Windows 7 x64.
-
I'm going to guess some careless programmer decided to allocate some memory, do something, and come back without freeing the memory and asks for more new memory until all memory runs out. I can tell you that if my programming professor found out who wrote this piece of junk, that programmer wouldn't have a head the next day.
If the program is written in C++, I am going to guess some dumbnut probably used new[], messed with the pointers and officially screwed up, and forgot to delete[], so it just allocates more and more memory without properly derefencing pointers. I'm also sure it includes some malloc() with the program forgetting to free() the memory.
As for 1.7 GB...that's ridiculous, but not the limit for memory (although very close). I think each program can have memory pages that total up to 2 GB per process (up to 4 GB for the whole system if 32-bit; not sure about how 64-bit handles it), but I'm not really sure as I read that in some article long ago. -
digitaldragon754 Notebook Enthusiast
It took up 5.3gigs on mine , 6hr runtime. Windows 7
-
Well maybe Windows 7 is the problem then.....?
I'm running windows vista 64-bit and my computer has been on for 3 days without a restart and it is only using up 3,900KB of my memory -
That is a ridiculous memory leak...
-
Yeah I am getting the same problem. Was wondering why the hell my computer was running slow as balls till I looked at the memory monitor and noticed I was idling at 98%. The thing is getting up to 1.7 gb for me as well.
Oh yeah running Windows 7 64 bit. -
running windows 7 32 bit
same problem -
same stuff here
-
Uninstall AlienFusion you don't need it. Trust me...
I'm running win7 64 bit with only the AuroraFX lights app that Vikas coded. -
how do u uninstall alienfusion? i dont see it on my uninstaller.
-
You cant without removing command center but you can disable the service in services.msc.
-
Indeed the Command Centre for XP/Vista is not compatible with Windows 7. The first time I installed the CC on 7 it gulped 1.5GB in less than an hour. I tried uninstalling the Command Centre (for those who don't know AlienFusion is part of the CC), however I got an error when trying to remove the AlienFusion... very frustrating indeed. So I had to make a clean install of Windows 7 once again to correct that mistake...
Anyways, right now I don't have the Command Centre, but there is yet hope: the new M15x (and possibly the M17x) come with Windows 7 so I figure Alienware have created a compatible version of the CC for 7. All we have to do now is find a download link.... -
Well, I had tried the update last time and it didn't work but for some reason this time it has. I uninstalled the command center and manually deleted the Alien Fusion components still left within the folder. I had the update from the hive and decided to see if it worked or now. Well it seems it does as the process hasn't shown up yet and the files are currently installed to the hard drive.
AlienFusionController.exe leaking memory, taking over 1GB of memory!!!
