    Hi everyone,

I have an Alienware M15x and I have recently reinstalled the OS (Windows vista 64bits). I installed all the drivers but I have a problem with AlienFX. My Alienware has no lights (Keyboard, touchpad, alienhead, etc.), but before reinstall the OS all was perfect. In Command Center, I cannot see the different sections of my computer to change its colours, and I cannot load or create themes.

I tried to reinstall OSD and command center, but it didn't work.

Does anyone know how to fix it?

    Thank you very much.

Try uninstalling the Alienware App before reinstalling it. I had the same problem and that cured it, although I still cannot get AlienFusion to work for some reason. AlienFx still works, though.

You can also try closing the existing theme (even though its not visible) and then creating a new theme. That is, if the close option appears on the menu. :(

I have tried both solutions, and they didn't work.

I think I have a problem with the driver or firmware of the AlienFX device.

In this post I upload two images, in one of them the install program says that the current version of the driver is 0.0 and the updated version is 0.0 (this image appears when I install the Command center, but I needed to record the screen to see it, because it appears only during a fraction of second). The other one shows the result of execute the AlienwareAlienFXTester, and it says that it couldn't detect the alienFX device, and it didn't show the number of the current version of the firmware (This field is empty).

    Thank you very much ;)

P.S: Sorry for the images in Spanish.

A final option before calling Dell is to try the following:

    1. Uninstall Command Center using the Programs & Features Control Panel.
    2. Download and install CCleaner (if you don't already have it installed).
    3. Reboot your system and when back at the desktop launch CCleaner. Open the Registry Module of CCleaner and scan for registry issues. 'Fix' all found issues (Command Center will be in there - left over traces from the uninstall). Once completed, reboot.
    4. Once back at the desktop, reinstall Command Center.

If this does not work, you are going to have to call Dell. They will have to dispatch out a tech to replace the motherboard as (if I'm not mistaken) the AlienFX Chip is on the MB. Either way, Dell will be able to assist.

Best of luck. Post back on outcome.

unplug it, remove the battery and press the power button for 10-15 seconds.
(I thinks that resets it or something)

I had a similar problem in my M17x, hope it works on the M15x as well.

My errors with AlienFusion relate to its inability to communicate with the service controler. The AlienFX controller is an executable set to run from the Programs folder (under the Alienware/CommandCenter directory).

In regedit, under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run do you have a REG-SZ entry named AlienFX Controller with the value

    "C:\Program Files\Alienware\Command Center\AlienwareAlienFXController.exe"

If so, is it set to not start through either the registry, the System Configuration Utility (under Administrative Tools in the Control Panel), or through your anti-virus software? If it is set to run, does the System have Full Control rights assigned to it?

Aside from that, have you tried launching just the FX editor (and not the entire command center) from the Alienware folder? Also, are there any entries in your event viewer regarding errors with the FX service module?

try using the recovery disk that came with your laptop to re-install command center after you have comppletly uninstalled it and cleared the registry -- its a problem with the win7 driver and command center playing nice with each other. There's also a pause in the install that you have to be patient and wait for a while -- seems like its not doing anything but if you interupt it fails to install correctly How do I know this? Been there, got that T-shirt too!

I updated my m15x to Windows 7, and installed all the drivers in the correct order, Then I get to the command Center part of the driver install. It asks to flash the AlienFX Controller, and I hit yes. Now I have no light pipe, no touch pad, no keyboard lights!! And the AlienFX controller will not work, gives a error HSUIT something. There is no TUSB driver option in Device manager, im at a loss here, installed windows 7 and drivers about 10 times now and nothing! Please help....??

To start, Flash your m15x bios to X36 then reinstall Windows 7 (64) and all the drivers in the correct order, save the command center for last. TURN OFF UAC and OSD will work FINE!!!! Install m15x_ripley_model.exe, Then install M15x-M17x-CommandCenter-1033(x64) after that install AlienFx_KB_Fix, Shutdown (not restart)! When windows starts open command center and close the current theme and open a new one. This is how I got mine to work great! Works like it did with Vista on my Alienware Area-51 m15x!!
All the drivers and downloads in my post you can download from this site, or google!

If you dont want to reinstall windows, Just flash bios (X36) and remove any command Center you have installed, and run CCLEANER and run REG FIX, and fix all problems, restart and then start with the new downloads for command center!!
