I just took a look at the new m15x customization page and I noticed these two things. What's the deal with them and how can I get them? Whizzo PM'd findvikas and I about facial recognition software before but I haven't tried it out myself. Now AW has released their own approved version in addition to AlienTouch? Anyone know what this is all about?
Edit: Latest Command Center Update - With AlienSense & AlienTouch.
-
just update your command centre to v1.28 SP1 (assuming you have 32bit OS, if not, i think findvikas wrote up a new guide for 64bit users).
-
Hm, where can I find the v1.28 SP1 version (Yeah, I'm on 32-bit). I only have Alienware Command Center v1.0.17M in MyHive.
-
Ennea you don;t have to get anything from MyHive.
Simply open command center whilst being connected to the internet. Command Center should update automatically -
Really? I just tried. Nothing happened for me.
Edit: Nevermind - for those interested http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=312271 I found the proper thread. Sorry, I thought this was a new thing. -
Hmm.. That was how I got mine updated.
Maybe they removed the auto update feature? A problem with the auto update was that it made my Command Center disappear at first. But dwend devised a way to make it work.
It's in his thread regarding the update to Command Center -

I'm guessing that this updated Command Centre is not for the m17x as i can't find it in my hive when i log in and search for it. It tells me it's in the support area but, does not appear in drovers and downloads.
I tried opening Command Cantre at home and nothing happened and i left it for about 20 mins...
I'm running Vista Ultimate 32 bit BTW

Then they must have taken out the auto update feature.
Try and find dwend's post regarding this new update to command center. I believe there are some links there in case you cannot find them in MyHive.
On the topic of MyHive, UK's MyHive seems rather incomplete compared to the American version. -

Good point, i'll try the USA version when i get home... It's blocked from work Grrr Argh!

The MyHive version installed the old version again. All was well when I installed Oceanus' upload though http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=313652

I would recommend to wait for another updated version otherwise you should look at this thread as well.

BTW... You really had no idea about Sense & Touch ?? Its out there for long time now.. -
Yeah, I'm a little late to the party it seems.
I had no installation errors whatsoever, save the fact that the version in MyHive is not the new one. Sense is very cool. Only thing I neede from Touch was scrollbars. My sense recognizes my face in about 3-4 seconds so I'm pretty pleased with the results. -
You can put it into calibration mode and it will update your database for even faster login. Mine does instantly; only when it works
, other times it says "License is Invalid". To put in calibration mode, right click the systray icon and select calibration mode.

Nice. Thanks whizzo, cha and findvikas for all the info/help.

If you go to AW Technical Support Forums, there is a thread about why they removed the file from the MyHives; They are fixing an issue with the command center update file - hopefully they should be uploading it back soon...
One of the reply in the thread from an AW Rep :
-
Interesting. What exactly are they trying to fix with the Command Center?
-
They told me last week that you should see something by the end of this week that was the week just passed. So I guess just few more months

There's a problem with the upgrade, it asks for .Net framework 3.5 SP1 and crashes.
Try here for more info Problems with new Command Center & Solutions to them
I'm waiting until they release the version for the m17x as i don't want problems and i can do without the face recognition software for now (",)
