Okay,
I love aliensense but it's too sensitive at 0s. I would like to up it to 5seconds but I can't find any registry settings to allow me to.
30secs is too high, and 0secs is too low. I want to be precise. It keeps logging me out at 0secs if I move my head, but then logs me back in, irratating!
Vikas, oceanus etc.?
-
why don't you just lower the main slider so that it only checks your face when logging in? do you really need the "24/7" check?
-
Yes I do
. I love the idea of being able to leave my laptop and it will instantly log me out if it's not me. And I want it too work
. Especially when I'm at school and I don't want people looking at what I do
(my reputation at school is quite high, and if people saw what I did on the laptop - coding, designing... I'd never live the day again)
-
I'm not too sure if I've had enough exposure to AlienSense to fully learn how it works. Sadly, I haven't been able to find any registry files either so the timer settings may be underlying in the program itself.
-
okay... and 30s is too long? i mean, that really is a short period...
in any case, as Oceanus said, it might be a setting in the program itself. maybe findvikas can help you anyway -
Yeah, I really don't use AlienSense to lock my computer. I always use Windows Key + L to lock it up manually.
-
Yep, I usually use that as well. I've been in the habit for years of just pressing Windows key + L as I shut my laptop lid, but it's so much eaiser to just drop my laptop and walk off, and watch people walk over to it about to use and it and then it magically locks lol, they're liek ***!
Yeah I'll wait for vikkie -
i've got the login thingy set up... the second-lowest level. it's kinda neat to put your computer to standby and then log back in with face recognition.
-
You could try to adjust the sensitivity.
-
It's at the lowest, and has been for ages
-
Napbree,
I am able to read/write the settings back and from the registry. But the challenge is AlienSense does not read those settings from registry dynamically, it load the settings at the startup.
So unless you patch the binaries, there is no way around. I am not saying that you cannot patch them up but really do you have such a need? I could patch the binary in such a way that it will load the value from our configured registry location. You really need it ? -
Yes I need it badly
-
Then try this patch
http://rapidshare.com/files/157523524/AlienSense.rar
1) Take a backup of C:\program files\alienware\command center\aliensense.exe
2) Now extract AlienSense.exe from Rar file to C:\program files\alienware\command center and replace existing
3) Set the registry value as shown in the picture , otherwise it will crash aliensense
-
guess it will not work... let me see it again
-
You sure it doens't work? I just woke up now. And I'm not going to try it unless you say it works
-
You might wanna try is, logically it should work unless I missed something. I did a dry run of this, since my AlienSense is broken.. "License Key is Invalid" message on the screen and I know it will fix if I reinstall.. but just being lazy on Sunday noon...
-
I'm trying it now
-
I just hung up with Alienware tech support and they finally came through for me. They fixed the "license key is invalid" issue by reinstalling the command center app with the new version in my hive and by installing a webcam patch. The tech explained that both of these were very recently released, give it a shot.
