There are a few free themes for the My Colors thing as well beyond the Alienware one like Green earth , Diamond and an ATI one as well
...
Stardock MyColors - See Windows ™ in a brand new way -
-
No prob all!
I have been anxiously awaiting this theme. I use Stardock all the time. Many, many of their programs and have been very satisfied. -
Has anyone had trouble with Alien Sense after installing AlienGuise ?
-
the3vilGenius 3vil knows no fear
not really, it has nothing to do with eachother.
-
I had Hyperdesk installed before this, uninstalled it and then installed this app. Now I get the error
Mycolors needs administrator privileges to change the theme.
Please change the user account to allow administrator privileges.
(or something very similar, I forget the exact error).
Anyway, I am using administrator privilege and am running as an administrator. Tried compatibility settings (including wiping them) and nothing seems to work.
I guess it something to do with rights to access certain files installed by the application in the windows dir or something. Uninstalling, removing relevant files and reg entries with "mycolors" and reinstalling the app has done nothing to fix it.
Apart from copying across my user account to a new one (last resort) can anyone think of a solution? It looks like a nice theme -
after installation , run the apps thru my computer program files named mycolor themes, in mycolor folder. i also got the same error..at the begining.. -
Had to configure my app protection to allow all the sub apps to go through also, which was annoying because the screen had blurred which covered over the popups from the security app (comodo defense+)
Rep+ for the fix
edit: will rep you when I can, apparently I've repped you too recently -

I also fixed it like that yesterday. Its because the alienguise takes over and needs the permission.
-
Hmm, well I'm not so happy with this in the end.. It's probably because I'm coming from using Hyperdesk Flagship
Hyperdesk Flagship - Windows 7 Themes Themes - Hyperdesk
That has no issues with menus or borders etc, this alienware theme has some noticeable windowsblinds related issues.. I'm going back!
Pity really, there are some great elements to this skin, I just wish they had have collaborated with The Skins Factory instead of Stardock. -

I have no issues with borders and menus...
What are you talking about? -
-
Nothing to worry about, IMHO.
-
-
I am having trouble with it. Everytime I change themes I get C++ debug errors. Anyone know a fix?
-
Does anyone use their Media Player skin?
Does it work with no glitches? -
the3vilGenius 3vil knows no fear
Im using the invader media player skin. no problems
-
It says - Vista or XP. But if it works - I'm in
-
The borders can cause issues with some applications, and although you can customise and disable the skin on particular apps etc, I just found hyperdesk didn't need that! -
Did anyone else not like this theme?
Had it installed for +2hrs but couldn't stand the silly box around taskbar icons at bottom right (which decreases the icon size), overuse of black for all icons (file icons when navigating in windows explorer were horrible) and loss of windows resize ability at top right of open windows...
Maybe the theme wasn't intended for 1900 x 1080 resolution on a 15" monitor and may look better run at less resolution or larger screen size? -
The setup working 100% with me. No slow down or issues.
-
I also find this theme annoying, if they were to re-release their previous themes that would be awesome.
-
Try the Hyperdesk ones, really great!!
-
Just Bought hyperdesk.. damned it is really2 good.... hehehehe
-
I am interested in hyperdesk. Been reading their forums so I will see if I get it. Not completely sold on it and they dont offer refunds.
-
-
Well, the breed theme works just fine for me. Kinda wish Alienware would make an Aero enabled theme though. Love mah aero
-
The Hyperdesk themes are crazy awesome. Stunning really.
I bought the red and the blue one. Wow.
These are the only skins that are on par with the style of Alienware. -
My wife & I both like the layout & design of the Alienguise theme, but it causes issues when running some games in 1920x1200 windowed mode because it is a little thicker than the default Windows borders.
-
Just a thought on that note, I like the direct acceleration of DWM (Aero) but I'm not too interested in the transparency side of things. Moving thumbnails and slick window movement is great but transparency seems a bit camp. -
Got the Hyperdesk Darkmatter four pack, and I admit, I am impressed. Combined with the Invader icons that zaidbaby posted - which I've done up in IconPackager - it's looking absolutely amazing.
The one thing I regret though is that I cannot save the themes. That just messes things up big time when I try changing between them. Now, if I could just save the themes WITHOUT the icons/taskbar changing, THAT would be awesome. -
-
Heh, I got the Universal Theme Patcher. Makes things MUCH easier - I can swap between the Hyperdesk themes through the Windows My Themes now, at least with the toolbars.
-
-
It won't do anything for the icons mind you. It will just tinker with the taskbar. If you want to change the Windows Media Player skin, the icon pack, or the AlienFX colors, you'll have to do those manually. Still, though, being able to change the taskbar on the fly is a gods-send.
On topic now. Breed seems okay, but a couple of the windows look awkward. I think the notifier for the m11x that says you cannot change cards before disabling things looks a little wonky. Otherwise...seems alright, but the Hyperdesk themes are easily better. -
Didn't see this noted anywhere else. Dell updated the version to A02 last week for those who use it.
I installed it over the A01 version on my M17xR2 and did a fresh install on my M11xR2. No problem either way.
No release notes but I did notice a menu popup for icon packs and wallpaper. The frames also have better behavior as I used to get shift when opening on version A01.
