Well, had the m15x for about 3 weeks now, very confused about the support.

The alienware support site ( Alienware: Client Services Support Area) requires some account number I can't find. I have the black binder manual thing and it doesn't have any special ID for my laptop...there's a slot for it but it's empty. So I'm just posting this here!

Been trying to get aliensense to work with my gorgeous face for 3 weeks now. Hasn't worked a single time yet. I wait, it finds my face, then says not recognised, login to improve database speed. I do, it doesn't work the next time and still hasn't.

What am I doing wrong? I'm in a well lit room and have the brighten screen thing turned on, the cam works fine I use it everyday for...other things...and it's finding the face...so I'm just lead to believe there's something wrong with my face! ;(

I recommend not even wasting your time with this. I got it working but 2/3 of the time it won't recognize my face for over 5 minutes. Then all of the sudden ... it will work after 5 minutes.

Stupid gimmick I think. It's wasted time more than saved time.

What I did was remove User account to do with recognizing your face. Then put in your face again. See if that helps.
I would probably recommend upgrading your Alienware Control Panel (command center) thing to the latest version available to try it.

It works for me all the time.

I just make the program save a picture of my face every time i log in, after 3-4 days of rebooting it recognizes me every time, from whatever angle it seems.

Thanks, deleting my biometric data and starting from scratch is working well so far. I also turned on the saving a picture of every login which is kinda cool I think!

Um so...where do I go for support in future? Just Dell support, no fancy cool exclusive Alienware support? :(

I've had my laptop for 4 months now and as soon as I updated Alienware Control panel it started recognizing my face after 5-10 starts.

Oh and your serial number ( well atleast for my M17x ) is on the bottom of your laptop.

Mine works like a charm unless I don't shave. Then it thinks I'm Kurt Russell trying to steal this laptop and attempts to shoot me with an AlienForce(tm) 0.4b laser. Seriously. :p

What format is the serial number? I've got a really long one and the 'Service tag' doesn't work. They want an 'account' number, I can't find that anywhere...! Has anyone been able to use that alienware support site???

The service tag can be found by the Dell support site automatically when you go to downloads drivers etc..

As for the other number, you need its called speed number or quick number or somehting. I haven't called up in a while but i've got it written down.

Just get a picture and use that everytime. Just hold it infront of the computer like a key card.

Well perhaps it is because your unearthly stunning beautiful face is way beyond what the software can handle :) If it does not recognize your face just log in manually and after a few times of manually log in the system will have memorized your face and you are good to go :)

Dell Support site (support.dell.com). The account number which is needed for Alienware's HIVE support is for older (pre-dell) systems. Dell/Alienware is support via Dell's support site.

Closing thread since its turning into nothing but 'big brother' posts...
