Now it weights 6 pounds so that's 6 + 12 M17+ Charger = 18 pounds now is this to heavy to carry around school? or should I get the the Messenger Bag?

I would just rock the netbook at school, and leave the M17 safely at home. That's too much notebook to get damaged or stolen at school. But if you must, I would recommend a backpack, I carry around my 17" laptop + netbook + chargers and misc around with me for work, and a backpack really helps. It's not too bad on your back, but it's still heavy with all that stuff. :D

So you could carry your books and notebook in the same bag.

But the catch is finding a backpack that fits 17"+ and being a style that you like.

It should also help you stand up straight. Seriously; I don't even feel the weight of my ASUS G2S-A1 in my Wegner Pegasus. Don't get that though; my laptop barely fits and yours is ginormous.

Mike, the AW aluminum suitcase is just a rebranded product of Matias Lap Top Armor (like other AW products).

Go to this page and you will find the same product but without the alien head of course: http://www.matias.ca/laptoparmor/index.php

They have several sizes and colors. You will find what you want: the original 17 inch metal case. Warning: the 17 inch metal case doesnt has the same storage room as the AW Msn bag has. I have one and is difficult to carry on it the charger.

The bad new? AW sells it cheaper (yeah believe it or not). On the other hand the AW Msn bag is nice, cheaper, durable and will protect your system very well. I think it "fits" better for school use.

I second just using your netbook at school. As much as i'd like to, I don't bring mine with me to school either. The Matias cases do give you that look as if you were smuggling diamonds though so I suppose it would be a nice conversation starter...

Go for the AW Orion Backpack... I have one and believe me, it PROTECTS your laptop. My wife got po'd at me and hefted my bag with my m17x in it up and threw it on the floor... I mean slammed it down really hard, and after some choice words, I opened it up, started up the m17x and had no problems at all and has been running great ever since.

    last minute:

My M17 arrieved a couple of days ago. It fits perfect in the 17 inch matias lap top armor... however the M17 is so big that you cant carry anything else in the briefcase besides some papers and maybe a mouse (little one)

so... you will not have room for your battery

If I were you I would consider seriously other options
